Re: How you got your iow name
Name is Marv Fish and I was born, raised, and likely will die in LawrenceBurg. Yeah, I know it's kinda lame but I felt pressured to come up with something so I could get on IOW. :22:

Cap'n Crunch cereal made it's first apperance on supermarket shelves in the 60's while I was in high school. Since my last name sounded somewhat like the Capatin's trusty mate Seadog, all of my classmates just started calling me that. It stuck with me for 45+ years now.

Re: How you got your iow name
Well, I turn wrenches on my my brothers superstock at LPS just about every Saturday. So I thought the name was fitting. lol He even put my IOW handle on the sail panel this year. I got a pretty good laugh out of that when I first saw the car this year after it had been lettered.

Live in Illinois, fan of sprints. Simple as that.:) The "land of Abra Lincolnham" part comes from one of my kids coming home from preschool and telling me about learning about an old president from Illinois named Abra Lincolnham. :2:

My Mother named me Rodney after Ryan O'neal's character on a T.V. show called "Peyton Place". My Father, who used to build street rods, called me "Hot Rod" since the day I was born. But Aero calls me "Kojack" :5:

Re: How you got your iow name
Our philosophy has always been "Team" first, then driver. Therefore its "TeamCGR"... I think everyone knows what the CGR stands for..:6:

Re: How you got your iow name
I enjoy open wheel racing and my name is Rob, simple. This makes me think of a joke I like with names, I believe it applies here.
A woman arrived at a party. She spotted an attractive man standing alone. She approached him, "Hello. My name is Carmen." "That's a beautiful name," he replied. "Is it a family name?" "No," she replied. As a matter of fact I gave it to myself. It represents the things that I enjoy the most - cars and men. Therefore I chose "Carmen". "What's your name?" she asked. He answered "B.J. Titsengolf." I know it should say something like Titsenracin but I left it original...:3::31: |

Re: How you got your iow name
Myself and TJ from TJSlideways.com have been friends for quite a long time, and when we brought our micro sprints to Hartford one night to put them on display, we were standing around talking, and said "is that color school bus yellow?". It actually was, and he said it then. The saying still makes me laugh, "It may be cool to sit in the back, but this bus is going to the front."
Didn't happen all that much, but I won a few races. lol |
Re: How you got your iow name

When I first started going to dirt track races, in terre haute growing up, I met this guy Brent Goodnight (brenttfunk) and his group of friends. I saw these guys everytime they came to terre haute so they started calling me Terre Haute Rob. This went on for several years until they got lazy and started calling me TH Rob. Then someone realized that spelled THROB, and there you have it. It interesting how nick-names start...

Re: How you got your iow name
For me it's, Home Sweet Home. But home is actually 15 miles north east of Boston. Like Dick M. I'm also along the Atlantic coastline, right in the middle of open wheel dirt car country :14:

Re: How you got your iow name
Gretchen Wilson gave me my nickname soon after the release of her hit song: All Jacked Up".
I'm kiddin'. It's just me being silly. The nice thing about getting older is that I can get away with silly stuff more often :2: |
