I'm jumping in on this one .
Where is Earl Baltes when you need him? A promoter's promoter if there ever was one. Seems like that was a 100 years ago.Boy does Eldora miss him.

I avoided this one because the way the track was for the 4 crown. Seems like they haven't touched it since then. As others have stated here, just because its Dustdora, doesn't mean you can go by name only. It is getting a reputation lately that keeps fans away, not drawing them in.

It isn't my money Tony is spending, but it also not my money he is going to get. Eventually he'll have to decide wether he wants to keep losing money, because if this continues he won't draw anybody.

North Vernon for me tomorrow.

Dave, I'll be making my way over from New Jersey to support your track and USAC. Please water freely as I want to "see" what the new track is like.

Hope your very sucessful with this show. I wish that the promoters here in Jersey would be more like you.

These two weeks can't get hear soon enough.

Three pages of posts and they haven't turned a competitive lap yet. I have seen rain delays and sun delays but a dust delay? That's terrible.

i hope all of them come to vernon ,forget about usac rules and eldora! Just hope the rain stays away ? Whats it looking like for the no way out?

I really loved going to Eldora. Even though it is over 290 miles from my house, every mile was worth it. No more. I stopped going when it became a dust bowl consistently. I will not drive that far and spend that amount of money for a dust bowl. I agree with racephoto1, where is Earl when you need him. And are the new bleachers supposed to make things better?

A sad time for a great track. I hope that Tony does something soon to return the Big E to its former greatness.

Yes, at 3.5 hours one way, I learned an Eldora trip is usually gonna be a little late and may require a hotel.

He was in Batesville at Mark Martin Ford, but that was hours ago...

Anywhere from 50% to 70% chance of rain. Depending on what weatherman you listen too. But, It is suppose to be a front that comes through quickly and be done early afternoon. So, hopefully it is early enough to run the track in..

Thor called me at 9:30 from Dustdora. He said there were a LOT of people going to North Vernon on Saturday, and skipping the dustbowl. If the weather plays out right, the Fleetwoods should have a good crowd tomorrow.

I was planning on helpin on the track at practice tommorrow and then taking my son to the big E. He has been looking forward to this since the schedule was out. And when a father and son live 100 miles apart and plan these things out we always hope for the best and on making memories for the both of us to look back on. But after what I am hearing on the phone and thru here, I am having my doubts. I really don't want to break his heart but if we don"t go I will blame TONY for it! I have always been a huge, maybe the biggest Tony fan, but damnit man wake up!!!! I was disgusted last Sept. when I took my wife there for her first trip and I"ll be damned if 2 hours before hot laps I told her, " We're in for a dustbowl tonite, and they didn't even grade the cushion off from last nite!" She asked me how I could tell and if I was sure because it looks wet, my reply was " Well in two hours you tell me! ( Mel and Tim Johnson did teach me a few things).

Nothing against dry slick or wet slick, seen great races on both, But they at least have to be prepared for it, not neglected into it.

I hope I get to go tommorrow and the track be in great shape, whether dry slick or wet tacky. Just PREPARE IT! We have in the past "missed it" at Lawrenceburg but at least there is monumental effort each and every week! WAKE UP!!!!!!!

That's unbelieveable. I was going to have to come back home tommorrow if I did go, so I guess I saved myself some gas and bail money, cause being cancelled for no legitamite reason would have put me over the edge.

Tim Shaffer won the 410 feature at Attica. I know it's wings, but at least they ran! 35 410's, 30 or so 305's and 29 late models.

Now that is a race I should have went to!

I have been going to Eldora for 35 years and until the crew figures out their dust problems they have seen the last of my money.

Sorry Dusty, it's been too bad for too long. I'll be back when the dust is within the expected amounts for a dirt.

I found out they put the disc to it after they called the show. To bad they didn't start doing that on Monday. Even more surprising, they have one , and somebody knows what its for.

Let's not try to paint the Earl years in dust-free, rosy tones and colors. I have seen "Grapes of Wrath"-conditions at Baltes specials as well. This didn't just begin under the Stewart-ship.....But it sure as hell better END with him.

I heard a "rumor" from the track that the grandstand tickets will be refunded, but not the pit passes.. That may keep a few cars there for tomorrow..

ADVERSE TRACK CONDITIONS FORCE ELDORA CANCELLATION

Rossburg, Ohio.......Adverse track conditions forced cancellation of Friday night's "Coca-Cola Spring Classic" USAC AMSOIL National Sprint car race at the Eldora Speedway despite extensive and lengthy track preparation efforts. Saturday night's "Coca Cola Spring Classic" USAC race remains on the schedule.

"In the interest of driver and fan safety, we decided to cancel tonight's events," said Eldora Speedway track director Larry Boos."

Practice sessions were conducted but track conditions did not improve and it became evident that racing could not be conducted safely. "We regret the cancellation of tonight's program," said USAC Competition Director Jason McCord, "but feel it was the best decision for all involved. We are dedicated to working with Eldora Speedway and their staff to be able to conduct events on Saturday and beyond and we thank them for their tireless efforts."

Saturday’s program gets under way with practice at 6 pm and racing at 7:30.

Just got back from the dust bowl


Been going there for more than 40 years and yes I have seen dust their before. This time it went to a new all time dust high. You had to be there to believe it. Larry told me last night he did not think the track would be any good so you have to give him credit on being right.

Yea so I just got home from USED to be my favorite place to go see a race at. That being said it will be a long time before I go back. That was the worst excuse for a track I have ever seen and I can't see 24 hours making any difference and as far as the rumor or refunds not happening so that is about 80 dollars and 5 hours of my life I'll never get back

The last four years that we went to eldora, we came home
mad and said we were never going back.
Tonight was our final night. Everything`s nice except
what the people pay to see---good racing.
There are too many good track`s such as gas city,
kokomo, larenceburg putnamville, bloomington, to put up
with the non caring people at the big e .

Hmmmm....Perhaps we need an outside ruling on just what qualifies as "extensive" and "lengthy". If this was a week's worth of tireless efforts, then they simply do not have the proper type of dirt on that facility. If it was hurried and last-minute, well....that's something else again.
