It wasn't right. Was thinking only 4 came from B. I changed it, but I am not sure it is still right. After reading the entry form, it looks like they made a change to the invert. Used to be top 6 inverted when we were still running. Now it says top 6 that transfer from the heats or in the invert.
That would make the top 6 inverted to be- Willliams, Hmiel, Cottle, Gardner, Clausen and Short.

Re: East Bay (Night One)

New rule this year. The first 6 starting positions are for the fastest 6 who transfer to the feature through the heats. The closest to the front you could start if you were fast qualifier but had to run the "B" would be 7th. What that meant tonight was that the first three rows were qualifiers 11, 9, 4, 3, 2 and 1. Qualifiers 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10 didn't qualify through their heat and had to run the "B" and could start no better than 7th (Casey Riggs, the 5th fast time, a difference of front row to 7th place).

I think one of the pet peeves of members of this board over the past year or two has been getting your time back if you transfer from the "B". Well, no longer. Should make for some very spirited heat races this year.

I also like that format...The only way I'd rather see it is start the B how you finish your heat then it would be ok to get ur qualifying spot back...atleast this is better than last years format. It's never gonna be perfect. This answers my question of how Ricky Williams started on pole!

I was very happy with the quality of tonight's broadcast. Two more nights and well worth the price. Good show all the way, congratulations to Gardner.

You all know that I am a dyed in the wool USAC fan. But this is the one old rule that really irritated me. Thank you USAC for fixing that finally.

We watched the racing on the web cast last night and it was incredible. The images were very clear and the slow mo rewind was a really nice feature. They used Digital Camera's, which were excellent. Sean did a nice job of working in Interviews from the pits as well. Good stuff. Wish we were there but the Iceman starts his Hockey playoffs this week. Team is headed to Tucson less driver for now..

Congrats to Demon, BC and Brady on top 3. Jon did a nice job to 5th with a late charge...

Probably had the 2x switch flipped on the lens. This gives you a longer zoom, but takes away a full f-stop. Not really nessasary on a small track.
There is plenty of light there, especially with todays cameras.

Outrages quality however. Not crazy about the locked down cameras in 3 and 4 however. Plenty of videographers down there right now, put them to work!
