I personaly think there is more of this going on in racing than what most think. But there is a big difference between local Joe Blow and Fike. When you put you self in a high profile situation people always make more of it than what its worth. I dont think it is a responsible way to represent your car owner and or sponsors. Thing is if he doesnt care anymore than this, Im sure everyone on this board could find a hundred kids that would like to have his chance in a car. I am not passing judgment, I would like to see him back in a car again and wish him all the luck in the world.

A guy once told that he hated trouble but trouble always seemed to follow him.
I told him I hated trouble and trouble does'nt seem to follow me.

Might be about the choices you make in life????????

Hypocracy would be bashing USAC on one thread about not having a drug policy and then on this thread bashing someone who is against someone on drugs in racing. Ahem! I won't mention names but I will say that it is the person on this thread with multiple user names registerd to one IP address.

I'm with one of the guys above that says I hope he gets "better", but I don't feel sorry for him. No-one forced him to start that garbage, he did it himself. If he was a man, he could easily have said no at a party, or wherever it started. I'd be very willing to bet he didn't say... Wow, I want to do heroin today. It just doesn't work like that. He started it because he WANTED to do it, and for him, I do not feel sorry for, and I don't think he expects anybody to feel sorry for him, but I think what he does want is for people to understand that HE is sorry.

I'm fat, I drink, but I don't smoke. All of those three are legal. I don't know of any illegal McDonalds runners, or Taco Bell smugglers, so what's the problem? If I want to be a big fat beer drinking american pig, then by god that's totally legal in this country. But if I want to be a ******* and smoke a joint, shoot some heroin, or snort some coke, then it's not legal, and I deserve to get caught.

This stuff isn't a "harmless" crime, this stuff destroys lives. What do you think the Fike family has gone through? What do you think his friends that love(d) him has gone through with all of this? What about the girlfriend that probably got corrupted by this? What about her family? It's not harmless, and it did hurt many many people. I was not hurt when I read the story, but I was so damned dissapointed. Always seemed like a good kid, and a fantastic racecar driver, but ya' know what, he royally dicked himself on this one. I don't feel sorry for him one bit, and I don't think anybody else should either.

to quote a Nancy Regan era TV campain slogan "No one ever says I want to be a junkie when I grow up."

Some times you screw up. It's part of life. I'm sure you've all screwed up big time somehow.

Judge not lest ye be judged...

Two missdemenors for him and treatment and release for her.

Just for the record America has a horrible, corrupt legal system that is totally based on money. That is why we need more and more jails. I have a friend who's family moved to America to flee Italy and Mussolini. He said in Italy the were very tough on crime, and executed many criminals. They still prefered freedom. Imagine that.

"Kenny Boy" didn't last long after the sentencing took place. At least Jeff Skilling is doing time. Thinking back on the "Scooter" Libby trial, can you imagine Bush trying to issue some kind of a motion in that deal? Counting down the days to 1-20-09 W's last day in office.

Best wishes to Fike and his girl.

Isn't the whole topic a political rant. Just for the record, I was only commenting that lots of people get off easy. Just not many who are poor.

TIME WILL BE THE JUDGE.....................................

I will make my final judgement when years have past. When this young man leaves this world his legacy will be what took place from this point on. Will he be remebered as a spoiled brat or a man that left behind some life lessons and was a contributor to society? Is he full of shet and just getting over, or is he really a man of his word? Not a one of you experts have a clue, but, time will tell.

BUT, I do have something else for you to chew on.

IS A MAN GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION? If you hang out with drug users, give them racecars to drive, are you contributing to the problem, are you a part of the problem?

For every Aaron Fike, there are ten drivers like Dave Darland, Josh Spencer, Brady Bacon, Bryan Clauson, Ricky Stenhouse, etc. around any track to serve as an example to youngsters of how real winners conduct themselves. I wish Aaron the best of luck in his recovery. But, IMO, the only thing he can offer racing is to concentrate on that and show up at the track, someday, as a driver that has REALLY turned his life around.
