Back in the 80;s , the F.B.I. tank on our car was 41 gallons

WOO fuel stop laps are based on 33 gallon fuel cells. Every wing team that plans on running big races already runs a 33 gallon cell. Anyone running a 28 gal cell is a lower dollar team who only plans to run weekly shows and bullrings.

Actually 1600 indirectly solved the problem. Take the wings off! I can’t remember the last time I saw a fuel stop at a USAC race

Like stopping to eat pizza during sex. ya just don't do it. Thank you for posing the question. it's un--American. :32:

Simple solution, Bigger tanks or less laps.Leave the "Stage Racing" to NASCRAP!

So I did a tiny bit of research and went on Speedway Motors website and took a look at the price of fuel cells. And to whoever the poster on this thread was that said it would hurt the little teams, you are correct. It’s about a $2500 investment, that’s about a grand more than I thought, which also explains how long it’s been since we had to buy anything for a race car. So for the little guy’s, that’s enough to merit serious consideration. But in the land of $20,000 dollar mules, I don’t see it as that big of a deal.

Change the names of the folks who have posted to this thread, and it can be read in a 2012 thread on HoseHeads!!
Same subject, same sentiments.

Drop the name Sprint Cars and call them Fuel Break Cars.

Moreland76 7/19/23 1:12 PM

I’m not a fan of work areas or mandatory reds for fuel. I guess I’m old school because when we would even stop at the speedrome we were done. I believe if you have a fuel stop that nothing but fuel should be done. I still go anyway. Lol

I can’t remember the last time I saw a track record crowd at a non-wing sprint car race.

The last time I saw a fuel stop at a USAC race was several years ago at the spring race at Lawrenceburg. The day had insanely high wins. The wind blew the scoreboard onto the track early in the day, and turned the track into a tire eater. There was a ridiculous amount of cautions, and the race had to be halted for fuel. It was not a planned stop, but was dictated by some very unusual circumstances. I have seen a couple of track records set this year also. It had been a while since I had seen one.

You know, one could voice their feelings towards Eldora Speedway. I mean, who better than us are fans of sprint car racing?

Here.

Everybody sign it along with the first signature. flagboy55, or another member(s) of IOW can present it in person.

Depends when one started attending sprint car racing.

Sad to say, but the promoters long ago came to understand that their marks are attending events; that there is something that can be passed off as "racing" is almost irrelevant.

Mine started in the late 40s, when the Roaring Roadsters, Amick, prosser, and the gang from California came to the track at Columbus, IN, and stayed all summer, and some stayed, and some returned, to begin what I knew as the beginning of the best racing experience ever!
Hooked me big time, I didn't know I was unable to afford it, but I began my career anyway!

The very name "Sprint" is just that, a quick dash
