From local teams I've spoken to, it's been an ongoing problem. |

I flat out asked a sheriff on site one time, what is the law, his response was, "there is no such law in Indiana about bringing in alcohol when the track sells it"....those telling you this are lying.....Just what I was told.

I could be wrong, but I think here in Ohio we have the same thing. It is not "Illegal" for me to take my own beer into Eldora as in I cannot get in trouble for it, but if Eldora allows me to take in my own alcohol they can lose their liqueur license. Both things can be true, although it is technically not illegal, it is against the rules for the track or whoever has a liqueur license. I cannot carry my own into a bar or restaurant and I cannot carry any out after I have bought it.

Re: That
Dramazone 2020 does not appear to believe his own BS. Still willing to wager here.

I thought the talk was the future of the track! Not drink in.

2020 is correct. The statute has an exception for race tracks, which would be the "Speedway" exception and it would apply to other such facilities as well, regardless of size.
If you read the statute, it also has and exception for other outdoor venues (I'm thinking a Klipsch style venue) as well. Finally, the penalty is NOT against the facility, but against the person trying to bring it in to the facility. So, a race track CAN allow outside liquor in, but they don't have to. A track can prohibit coolers or beer from coming in, but they can allow it even if they sell beer on prem. |
All this info on alcohol……. Meanwhile I’m still wondering if we will see racing at the Action Track and who the promoter will be. 😁
I have an idea who “ might” be the promotor but it’s just a wild hunch on my part |

I don’t think coolers should be allowed in grandstands or bleachers at any track as they take up prime seats. They should be limited to infields or tracks with hillside seating with wide concrete steps. In most states outside of Indiana, coolers are not allowed period. If Hoosier fans need a buzz to enjoy racing, drink a few before then buy a couple from the track or go back to your car and slam one at intermission. I’ve done it a thousand times.

We may say something confident to our perspective, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s correct. Nodrama cited the statute for us all to read. Brent said he witnessed it from an excise officer. I don’t question Brent or 2020, I do however question anything involved with government and those whose job it is to enforce such matters. Bottom line is cooler policy is not going to play a big factor in attendance. I can tell you with absolute certainty, one hand on the Bible, the biggest factor that causes me not to attend in person is races that are not on Saturday night. I absolutely hate that fact that I almost always have to alter my work schedule to go to this iconic race track

Re: That
Not saying which track but they used to pay no mind to people on the back straight . Until Excise showed up. What they were nailing is out of state liquor and brands they don't sell there. Not sure what the law was or which they were breaking. I don't know what the law is, But if it's posted. obey it. I wish I could carry my own fifth into a bar. Be a hell of a lot cheaper that way and that isn't even posted. They'll just throw you out.
As far as Terre Haute, I hope they race and I take a cooler. Because I drink five or six pops and or waters during a racing event. Being dissabled means I come down after heats, do my buisness and back to the stands. Not standing in line four times and paying twenty bucks It does offset some of the 320+ mile round trip cost. |
For what it is worth, it is pretty clearly stated (in the section previously cited) that it is not against the law for a person to bring alcohol into a track that is used primarily for auto racing even if the track sells alcohol. Nothing at all in this section about it being illegal for the facility to allow alcohol to be carried in.

There is a huge difference between lying and having differing thoughts on the same issue. Choosing appropriate words usually leads to better dialogue.

To get this thread back on track here's latest on THAT from today's Terre Haute Tribune-Star.

Re: That
I’d feel better if the article was the announcement of a new promotion team for THAT, but at least the news is promising!

Re: That
I always wondered how it would work if the track hired someone like Knoxville, and did the reinvesting themselves. It seems to have worked out good there.
|
You could do wangs once a month there. Dont get me wrong I am a non wings guy but cant beat wangs at THAT. Could pay 10,000 to win. I hope the can bring the all stars in this year. I like All Stars better. WOO is just too big (too big of crowds). Hasnt been the same since the king left.
