Seeing how Eldora had a fatality last year in a late model due to lack of a containment seat I can see why they are requiring it. Anybody who is not running a containment seat is really gambling with their lives. Don't give me the cost factor, if you can afford a sprint car you can afford buying a containment seat.

And if you can't afford the containment seat, then you can't actually afford a race car.

Next thing you know, they will require roll cages.

Hopefully that date stays at Liberty. At least 2 of us are going to try it again.

Eldora has the right to set their own rules.
But I will say Eldora NW sprint situation is about 100% better now since BOSS than before BOSS.

BOSS Lowest count was 33 at the Blue Collar Bash, Almost more than the fan count as it was a windy 38*

Not to underscore the importance of safety but I remember when guys didn't even run padding in the seat, because it added weight, not to mention a headrest

I'll always advocate for drivers using all the safety equiptment available to them. However I feel it's their responsibility for themselves.

Your statement above isn't exactly true, Padding adds slack area to the belts when bouncing around. Even todays seats aren't really a cushion padding. It is form fitted hard foam. It's also a reason not to have the cheap aluminum seat. You start bouncing around in a flip and they bend. if your body moves, your shoulders slide out from under the belts. Seen it many times in the 70s-80s.-90's before containment seats came around, The car would come to rest and the driver would have at least one shoulder belt off of him.
