Re: Must read for Div II Midget racers

As new racers many people are taken in by the spend your way to success>>>this is simply not true. You must think your way to success. The top Midget teams get a lot of stuff more or less given to them, by doing this manufactures hope the other racers will follow the example of the guys out front and race with their products and is often the case. We race for fun and the challenge of out thinking the other racers. Sometimes we are Hero's and much more times we are Zero's (It is that Hero thing that is addictive). If I can convince the newer racers that you don't have to use all of your kids shoe money to race on and be successful and convince the organizers to keep all the racers into account and forget about the Manufactures with all of their incentives then maybe I have done something to help Midget racing. I agree with you 100%!! I've seen guys do a lot with very little. All it takes is the time to do the research in what your doing. Some years back I watched Dean Hoffman out here in Illinois beat guys in the A-Mod division with well built big v-8's using a little v-6 motor! That wasn't but maybe 15 years ago. I like the idea of the DivII style cars personally. Brings back that concept of doing the research in what junk yard motors to use instead of slapping a checkbook down saying "just build the biggest & fastest!" With BAM I've seen a lot of ingenious stuff going into the cars. One guy has a magnito powering his Ecotec, and we have another running a 750cc motor AND keeping pace with everyone else! That's the kind of stuff that draws me to it. That and doing the junk yard crawl.....
