This ain't a personal attack on Daron, because I don't know him. But from a racing standpoint, I think what he's done over the last three years or so is a true example of what is wrong in sprint car racing today. When you drive over your head like he's consistently done, yet there are no repercussions b/c of daddy's deep pockets, that's a problem. Young guys need to have respect for their equipment and learn to take care of it, then go fast. All Daron learned to do the first couple years was the second part of that sentence.

He did tone it down a little in the 10 car, but I know if I owned one and was on any kind of budget I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole at this point.

Although I am a hugh supporter of Brady Short now, it's Daron Clayton that pulled me into this sport two years ago....I attended a local show at Tri-State and saw him come from the very back to the lead in five laps..... Seeing that kind of entertainment was just unbelievale to me, and I have been a huge fan of NON WING sprint car racing ever since..... so don't tell me that Daron's driving style is bad for the sport!!!!! Don't dilsike him just because he has more... a lot more balls then just about anyone out there!!!!

I would have thought that he would be at Tri-State Speedway on Labor Day for the MSCS show..... probably his favorite track??? Right or wrong??????

i can agree with you to a point and that point is daddys deep pockets...from what i understand the clayton team isnt a high budget deal...not trying to start anything but if somebody is racing on "daddys deep" pocketts it would be kevin swindell or at least he was

I never said he didn't have big ones or wasn't exciting, because those two things are defintely true.

And yeah, there are a lot of them out there with deep pockets.

I can tell you this, I won't go to a sprint car race that he's not going to be at, ever again, as long as he is racing anyway.

I can't disagree, but I know he rekindled my interest when I was burnt out on the sport, and I have become fascinated by his driving style. I was always a big Hayhurst fan until the wing cars died off around here, I did'nt take to the non wing cars all that well until I noticed Clayton. JMHO, thats all folks, I definatelyl don't mean any disrespect to any other drivers, I'm just a Clayton fan.

....and Glad Brad, are you sure you don't have Daron Clayton mixed up with the "wunderkind" from Bartlett, TN?
I mean Daron spends his fair share of time on his head, we all know that. But unlike your boy "Bulldog" (quite possibly the most "un-respecting" driver I've ever seen), Clayton very seldom takes anyone with him.

Exactly. Seems the ones I remember he was by himself and rarely if ever runs over anyone.

Re: Question about Clayton

I am 46 years old and and started going to the races when I was 8, so I have seen quite a few great drivers. However after seeing Daron for the first time I can say that there is something different, electric, exciting or what ever word you use when something stands out. When Daron is "on", there is no more exciting driver out there to watch. Period. Granted he may only be "on" for a heat or maybe the whole night, but its just different the way he drives it in there. I met his mom at Kamp last year(07) at sprint week and I can say that the family had risked everything for Daron to race last year. He had a good sprint week last year and ended up with Walker for a few races and then I beleive he went to the 10 car. He just wasn't the same driver in the 10, whether it was the car,set-up, or Daron trying to learn how to race on a team other than the families car. It just wasn't the same. At TRI-STATE in the 4x he looked to be back. However until he see's that when he's on he can take it down a notch or 5 and still have -em covered he will probably struggle. But it will be awesome once he matures and learns how to take care of the car and beat-em by a little , instead of trying to lap the field. GO DARON. Just my opinion and not the views of the staff and management. DON
