Re: 2014 Terre Haute Action Track schedule

I am glad they are racing sprint cars at Terre Haute so above all that is a good thing.

Maybe we are just odd balls that drive across two or three states to go to sprint car races.
But I would make the drive to see the best of USAC drive on the big half mile, that's always an event.
I am not going to drive that far to watch a local show. Maybe there just aren't enough people like us that attend from a distance, but there could be.

Haubstadt always seems to run on Saturdays for the most part, for their big shows.

I am so old that I remember when USAC would not run on any track shorter than a 1/2 mile. Aah the good old days.

I'll take the next day off so I can get a motel and sleep in, then drive home the next day at my leisure. It costs more but totally worth it for any race at that place.

Flat out wore out my Bonneville over the past five years Wandering Indiana from Cincy. Bet it hit over a hundred fifty shows and only 1/3rd of them at the Burg (80mi Round Trip) Bloomington (280) PVille (350) Terre (400) Gas City (370) Brownstown (200) Paragon (245) Waynesfield (220) Tri State was only 40mi but I was vacationing in Santa Claus. Eldora 220

Favorite Track. Terre Haute. ALL GUTS AND RUTS!

Sprints on halves are great as are sprints on quarters and three-eights. L'Burg almost feels like a half to me and the racing at Tri-State and Kokomo is hard to beat. It's nice to have the whole variety in Indiana.

I have seen a ton of great night races at Terre Haute, sprint, dirt champ and midget.

I still have great memories of Saturday afternoon Tony Hulman Classics. Seems cars and drivers would come from all over the country. Cars and drivers would come from California, and all over the Midwest.
It always appeared it took a lot of strategy and some luck to win.
Some of my favorite Hulman Classics in the afternoon would have been when Shuman and Larry Rice had a battle and Shuman won, also Eddie Leavitt in the Louie Seymour 7 car.
I always enjoyed watching Gary B run at Terre Haute on a sunny spring afternoon.
