Re: eldora august schedule
They had a higher paying race at the end of July last year. The crowd was the same as it normally is. The car count was basically the same too. I don't think moving it a couple weeks makes a difference. Why pay more purse with the same amount of fans?
I think Monster Jam is pretty stupid personally. I wouldn't walk across the street to watch it for free. But, somebody likes it because it's on TV all the time. You have to book shows that make money....that's how you can still book shows that don't. |

They used to have a Big One, It was the Biggest and Bestest ever.

Re: eldora august schedule
Eldora is simply a much different place than it once was. Yes, for you newer fans even the surface and the shape of the track, particularly the banking is not the same. It is ironic that in the Stewart regime this change was made to encourage passing. Basically both physically and philosophically Eldora is now managed by people who see racing as winged sprint cars, late models, and so-called motor sports circus events. You are fortunate if you were among those who witnessed 10K fans for opening and closing of the USAC season in days gone by (and also some great WoO shows in its infancy). Yes, they could run twin 50's with no stops and even sometimes run Winchester the next day. I am not longing for the "old days", but if fans who are new within the last decade think they are witnessing a superior on track product IMOH they are sadly delusional.

would be nice to see some imagination once again would it not (fully realizing that most of you are void of it, it seems!)

Speaking of imagination, I think you are full of something else, however you are way over the limit on imagination. JMHO! Bob

Gorilla suits, dancing girls, twin 50's to open and close the season, the good old days. I sure miss Earl Baltes, HE was a showman of the old school.
