Rex; I know I couldn't tell the difference between 280 and 330. There was a story told by Andy Granatelli about their barnstorming days with a "rocket" car following WWII. Promoters hyped it by advertising speeds of 300mph or more on fairgrounds dirt tracks. Overheard one day was one fellow telling another; "Who do they think their kidding. He's not going anymore than 250, I can tell."....or something like that. |
Re: Hard to believe !!!!
Crankin,
Thanks for the polite explanation. However I dont buy it one bit. If they were worried about these things blowing up they would address that issue, instead they shorten the run to add some stopping time. What are they going to do with the record runs? What a mess. How many guys are knocked out by the engine blowing up a year? I also believe Mr. Kalitta would not be for this reaction. Make the engines a little less than 6000HP would help. I would like to see them race and not just flip a coin on a set up and spin the tires all the time. Its really boring to me. Take a look at the motors and lengthen the shut down areas. Remote brakes? Monster Trucks use electronic shut downs controlled by the officials. Rex is on to something. I dont know much about this racing, but is the fastest 60 feet comming? |
