I think Koolaid and many others from MI are really looking forward to having the USAC races in MI for two nights instead of driving the 4-5 hours most MI guys do to see nonwinged action. If I-96 and Hartford don't even get enough cars for a full field got to think this will be a one year deal. Not sure the deal with the MTS of why they would not want to support the USAC show in their backyard seeing with USAC their start money is close to what MTS shows pay to win. I think it is just frustrating to the MI fans who would love to see USAC annually in the Wolverine state.

Logic? Really? Wow that's the smartest thing they could do. Plymouth will have close to 25 cars possibly more. The USAC show will have the hardest job being out of their comfort zone and running on a big 1/2mile in the middle of 360 wing country. I hope the best for Hartford they need it as much as any track does but the logic seems pretty clear to me..

Short of cars??? Plymouth was far from "short of cars"! They would probably end up with 23 to 25 Sprints and a total of 60-70 Race cars in the pits so I would say that's far from short... MSCS 24 cars with 5k up for grabs for the top spot, WoO's 21cars, Kokomo 18-20 avg for a weekly program,Only 18 sprints showed at p'ville Tonight and the same with most other tracks. So I would have to say it sounds more like the norm or even a little above avg than "low".
I'm thrilled for them and want nothing but the best for Mr Kennedy and the entire Plymouth Speedway staff...

360 country? 23-25 Sprints? Not sure if you're aware, but they had 16 or so cars which is a respectable increase from the opener but not close to the numbers you're spewing. (Do you work in the private sector?)

You're right, HMS will have the best PMS will get the rest. Not to say they won't make a great show of it.

Let's make this clear, this isn't a Hartford vs Plymouth deal at all. It is unfortunate that Hartford's only Saturday night race happens to be this Saturday. We had a rainout and we didn't want to postpone the makeup date too long. We had a great car count and we wanted to race on our little track. We have future events planned so Aug 11 seemed the best opportunity to get drivers back to challenge on the Bull Ring.

Ed Kennedy appreciated the long tow most MTS Sprints made as well as mods and 600 mini's showing tremendous support, so he increased the purse for all classes. That is a class act.

Koolaid 89, contrary to your continual Monday morning track ownership quarterbacking, which is nothing new from you, there are lots of sprint cars in the tri-state area and as all the drivers proved last night, there is support for Plymouth. Joe Irwin at MTS supported our decision for Aug 11 (I should know I was standing next to him when asked).

The track staff and ownership at Plymouth support Hartford Speedway and hope it has a successful USAC show. The Hartford folks are great people and the drivers they attract are great competitors.

We hope to see drivers, crews, and of course the awesome dirt race fans make the trip back to the Bull Ring.

It may not be a HMS vs PMS deal to you because you're too close to the forest to see the trees Matt. That show has been on HMS's schedule for quite some time and it shows a blatant disregard for HMS, USAC and others with a vested interest in the show.

None the less it'll all work out in the end, I have great confidence in that.

I think it's great that they've raised the purse! I'm disappointed in the poor decision on the rain date. Apparently it's too much work to promote something more than a week out.

Are we talking about the same USAC that walked out a month or so ago on Plymouth ?

there where 17 cars in the pits and there where 3 teams in the parking lot and there was 3 teams that called in when they where 30 minutes out and turned around. How many stayed home or turned around without the track knowing they where headed their way? The bottom line is this ..the Plymouth Speedway must do what they feel is best for their operation. period. They have to focus on what goes on in their back yard. Knowing their plans for next year I believe this is the only decision they could have made. But you have a choice and I for one am happy your going to a race no matter if its Michigan or Indiana. At least your going somewhere! If you live close to Hartford then you should without another thought support hem. I hope that Hartford is a success because the rumor mill has not been positive in regards to next year. So a good showing would be huge for them. So go where you feel its the best for you and enjoy the races.

Aside from a extra week of promotion, what's the hurry in running against the same cars 90 minutes up the road?

How do you have so much imformation? I haven't heard from you in a while. Did those guys from Montpeliar ever get paid?

Re: Plymouth Speedway $2000 win Aug 11

I'll be surprised if the Hartford /Plymouth choice affects more then three or four cars either way. Most of the MTS guys don't want to run the big halfs any way. And I don't blame them. Most of those guys (remember, we run with them from time to time) don't want to chance breaking their only motor just to say they ran USAC. As far as the pay, I believe USAC pays $400 to start for a non-member. I believe somebody stated that USAC pays as much to start as MTS does to win. Although we have never won a MTS race, I'm pretty sure they pay more then $400 to win.
We will be making a choice for this weekend, but not the one you would think. PDP Racing will be pulling into South Bend Motor Speedway to run with the HOSS series. When was the last time you heard of three sprint car races with in a hour of South Bend! I must be in heaven!
