Re: just a stupid idea?
It's not a stupid idea at all...actually very sensible.
You could have the track watered, teams would be there, but start hot laps at 8, then time trials, then run off the races. Possibly not as many support classes. Im the type that feels I get my monies worth out of 4 sprint heats, a B and and A feature and done. If the whole event last 2 hours, great! ---------- Post added at 12:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:12 PM ---------- Originally Posted by Dave Rudisell: |

If you notice all the wells on the road along the backstetch, those are the pumps that the city gets their water from. No surface water. the track sits on top of a large underground river. Also some of the local businesses get their water from the same area for production of soda, and such. Also the reason many distilleries opened up plants here 100's of years ago.....the water in these underground rivers is really good clean water. Have a great weekend!! Dave |

Re: just a stupid idea?
...durn there Dave, here in the hills if we gots us some natural underground streams we put us up some stills, maybe you picked the wrong buziness! Seriously, i knew this would be fun, Bill needs to find another little character showing a "can of worms", cause we can sure open some up in here. I can't believe track owner/operators still have any hair left, hot...cold...wet...dry...? i'ld be pullin' it out by the handfull. Maybe we find us an out of the way race track, not close to any neighbors, and have us a MIDNITE MADNESS" race night. All us geezers can grab that afternoon nap and be ready to raise h&ll from midnight to 3 am, kinda like one of those infamous 4 crown races. i think i missed my callin' bein' a sign guy...should have been an idea man! PRAY for rain, just not on race night, see ya, bob:29:

Re: just a stupid idea?
As someone else has stated, it really depends on the track. If the track has a good history of running an efficient program, then starting a little later in better. However, there is deffinitely a limit on how much later you could push it. 8:00 would be the latest, and even that is going to start having a negative impact on your gate.
Everyone in life has different factors that motivate them. For me, I have to be at work every day at 6:30am. Thus, I am getting up everyday around 5:15am. My 5 year old wakes up every day of the week around 6:15am so even on the weekends my family is up early. Thus, for me it is very hard to stay up to the wee hours of the morning. Thus, late nights would not work well for me. The other thing that you have to look at is when do the familys with young children leave the track. I know my kids are not old enough to last the entire night, so they stay home, but many people bring thier kids to the track. These people start heading for the car around 8:30 - 9:00. If you don't start till 8:30, you will never get them there. The idea may be better than what we have espically if it saves the dreaded farming session in the middle of the night, but it is not a cure-all solution. |
Re: just a stupid idea?
:DHere is the solution. We get the General Assembly to not only repeal the Daylight Savings Time law but enact IST, Indiana Sprintcar Time. Indiana Sprintcar Time would move all clocks in the state back two hours from where they presently are.:D:D Nothing else really matters, what could possibly be more important than sprint car racing.:3::3:
