I like the idea of everyones tire being the same compond... back when USAC was open tire we had Hoosier d10, d12, and d15 mounted at all times... we also ran American Racers MC2's alot!.....It costs much more to have all the options in your tire rack than just one...

I think Hoosier, American Racer, and Goodyear should all be aloud in any Series/ Track if they can all make a tire that "durometer" the same....This will make for price competition between them and make it so there are 3 companies able to help the racer and not just one... People are going to 'prep' tires and spend money doing it.... If the racetracks would just check everyone before and after a race it would solve alot of this CHEATING....JMO

Is it really a tire rule or the fact that we have guys paying a couple thousand dollars for shocks and crazy amounts of money for Titanium bolt packages to save 5lbs. Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of tire rules but for some of us that are going to use a used tire it is what it is. There are guys that no matter what are going to put a new RR or more on their car every night. If you don't want to play stay home!! By some golf clubs and go golfing. I race to have fun not make money and to many people are not having fun racing, you should try it some time it makes it a lot less stressful. if it were that bad the car counts would be less but they seem to be pretty strong for the economic situation. All in all I really don't think it is the tire rule that is ruining local racing. Why is it that some are always looking for a reason why local racing is being ruined. Sprint Cars have three night a week we can run and on Friday and Saturday there are usually at least 2 tracks to choose from, Now if we were racing one night a week or every other week maybe I would agree that there is a major problem. i lived in Vegas and had to drive 6 hours away to race a dirt sprint car now that is a problem. Let go racing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it because they've had enough automotive related companies coming to town and taking opportunity for financial gain which has ultimately stifled innovation in racing (not just the local tracks, the bigguns, too)? I dunno, just a thought. You might not realize it, but these tracks around here are still alive because of a community of racers that weren't afraid to speak out when people try to make a buck off of what they risk their safety and lives to do. There seems to be some people around here who are more concerned with 'bottom lines' than going fast. Who do you want building or driving your car? Somebody who wants to go fast or somebody that wants to line their pocket? What do the fans want to see, accountants or racers? You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I may be wrong, but I believe Hoosier Tire was founded and is still solely owned by Bob Newton.

By the way, a new DT3 cost $180. We got three nights out of the first one we bought this year (and it sounds like we aren't special). That's $60 a night tire bill. Running a series that pays $200 to start. Maybe I've run too much pavement, but that sounds pretty cheap to me.

Well, perhaps I got my panties in a bunch over nothin'. By the way, what are the costs for the competing tire? Have you had the opportunity to try them out? I'd rather the better tire prevail through competition on the track, not through snuffing out the competition by buying your way to a picture in victory lane. How can Mr. Newton prove his tires are the best for racing if his competition is banned from the race? I know, I know..... I'm living in the past. I suppose unless another sponsor steps up to sponsor the Silver Crown race at the fairgrounds, we'll all just have to get used to this game of monopoly. But you know what, now I've got another question... if the Silver Crown cars are no longer bridging the gap between sprints and Indy cars, then what is the point of the Silver Crowns? Nostalgia? Heck the midgets are almost as fast as the Silver Crowns now aren't they? I know, I'm rambling..........

Try doing some research before opening your mouth, there is no monopoly in the silver crown division on dirt. Hosier and American Racer both allowed.

Yeah, why would they care? Silver crowns run how many times a year? Nothing compared to the sprint car tire market. You're right, though, I didn't do enough homework. I don't even know what the USAC midgets are running. Didn't think to ask about that.

And you're absolutely right, no mention of Hoosier Tire on the Hoosier Hundred website. So, is there some other reason why we should get used to the monopoly because that was the only one I could come up with since I thought I remembered them being a sponsor there for some reason? Also, are you the one that can explain the sprint car deal?

P.S. Thank you for pointing out my error. Sometimes when people are trying to learn something, they make mistakes. But how do you know there wasn't a sponsor at the Silver Crown race that doesn't have anything to do with the deal between USAC and Hoosier Tire?
