Little Belleville is very 1950s in appearance,but the racing is good. Its my fave outdoor midget track,and I try to get to every midget race there. There are bleachers on both the frontstretch and backstretch. I usually sit somewhere near Morty on the backstretch. Either set of bleachers are fine for viewing . You sit real close to the track in either set,as they are very steep bleachers,and you are right on top of the action.

I'm hoping for 40+ midgets,and they always get about 60 mini sprints there. Makes for a good double header.

Hope to see you there next week Mike. I'm heading over straight from work. Probably get there in time for hotlaps.

Andrew you are so correct. The bleachers are the same as when I attended my first race there in 1955. The only thing different today is they have put a couple of coats of paint on them.:3: Still the racey little joint that it has always been. Best dirt track for midgets that I have every been to.:6:

Story is that Macon was copied off of the design of Belleville. I think the grandstands at Belleville are the original ones built and they
will probably be there long after most of us are gone.

Granite City had 51 late models and 37 mortifieds for the UMP Summer Nationals race tonight

Would expect at least 40 for the Lucas race as they most always draw good late model counts.

I've seen cab cars there before but I can't tell you if they are good there compared to other tracks as they just are not my thing.

Thanks for the numbers opnwhlmnd, was wondering about car count, but was afraid to ask. I figured being in the mid-west car count shouldn't be a problem. Although I was thinking/hoping closer to 60-70. But 40's cool.

All the cars that show up, will be there...How bout it Funkster...LOL

ASQ, if I wasn't afraid of needles, I would already have a #24 Ray Vest sponsored Nathan Durbarow tattoo..or....how bout' you get a Jesse James tattoo in his Figure 8 Championship car that he ran in Indy....;)

Sorry Chris, but yeah, we are seriously thinking about it...I loved the Late Models at Brownstown. But I'm convinced that sprint cars were built to race at speeds greater than 30 MPH....We will be there Tuesday for the UMP's though....Can't wait...:32:

That sucks to hear, ive always thought I could see a great race on any track condition, but we all have our preferences. Granite City can be hit or miss on Late Model shows, last night they ended up with 52 Late Models for the Summernationals and she slicked off pretty good but it was still a great show. Last years Lucas show had 42 cars with Earl Pearson Jr leading the whole way.

Chris, I guess I have a double-standard with my racing. I don't mind watching a low and slow late model race if thats what the track turns into. But the Late Model's (usually) put on a better show on a black track, then do the sprints.

And for sprint cars, I like to see a little speed...:6:
