It cost a great deal of money just to open the gates every night at a race track and expenses keep increasing, they don't get any cheaper. Normal pit pass prices were once $20 then $25 and for 2011, I bet more than just Putnamville will be $30 for a regular show.

Fuel prices are not getting cheaper and I bet the Ford Bronco mad Max track packer takes a ton of gas. Then who knows what else during the week.

We've been paying $35 in New England for some time, and up to $50 for special shows. One track charges $75 for a 3-day weekend, but it's still $75 even if you are only there one day.

What makes me mad is the pit passes go up and the purse never does. Or is it going up to pay for the free pitpasses that were handed out to the 100 percent attendees?

And it doesn't cost the racers anything to race?? It costs me a great deal of money and expense ( yes, my choice) to load my car in the trailer and go racing. The track owners/promotors aren't the only one with increasing expenses. LPS is going to charge more for a pit pass to race but not pay any more in the purse to the racers??

I don't think Joe Spiker is out to rip anybody off so there must be a reason for the $5.00 mark up. Maybe he barely broke even or even lost a little money last year.

As for the comments about raising prices and not purses, it is not Spiker's fault that you have to have 800-900 hp engine or a new right rear every night or the price of fuel. These are the reasons that we had to give up sprintcars and do something else.

The series and tracks I run at now $30-$35 dollar pit passes are the norm not the exception.

I know this is a waste of breath and effort but here goes anyway.

Racing is an expensive sport but, the local tracks need to make some COMMON SENSE rules and stick with them for the local racers. If a team wants to run USAC or a a national tour series let them spend the $$$ it takes BUT...

Local tracks like LPS needs some common sense rules concerning tires and shocks that will let a local team race. Indiana has some great tracks with lot's of local racers who aren't out to get rich but to have fun. Remember that's what it was all about when it started years ago. Rules on compounds on tires (and not brand) need to be enforced, local racers don't need $500 shocks on each corner of the car and the rest will take care of itself. Help preserve Indiana sprint car racing...make some changes that will save the racers $$$. Costs like insurance, fuel for equipment and help at the track can't be controlled as easy as some common sense car rules.:15:

I know this won't make you feel too much better, but. The LAST time I went to Stockton Speedway for a USAC WS race out here on the left coast, it was just a few bucks shy of $100 to get one USAC member and one non-member in the pits......Indiana, I understand your pain, but at least you all have choices.. PS...There was only like 10 midgets and 10 Focus cars and maybe 15 sprint cars..

Beats charging us or the fans$5.00 to park(psychologically speaking).
