I hope for the best for this track, I have always enjoyed it every time I have been there. But with ASCT involvement I have my doubts. I just don't understand why they feel there is a need for a sanctioning body, especially one with the reputation they bring.

Good luck.

Once again several people have taken a positive and turned it inot a negative. The bottom line is Danville is a great track. I grew up going to every race that they had and you dont see USAC or any other series stepping up to the plate to sanction or promote this event. We as race fans should just be thankful that someone is sticking their neck out to have this event. No one is going to get rich having this event I would imagine they are going into this knowing that they probably will not even break even. This is the chance for every fan out there to show the fairboard in Danville that Sprint car racing is alive in Danville.

We should only be thanking everyone including Steve and Al Thomas. It would be great if they get the chance to keep sprint car racing alive in Danville. My guess is they had to find saction body for the event due to needing insurance and people to run the show. Since this track is no longer running a normal show it takes lots of logistics to make this event to happen. So lets get on board and be supportive.

I have talked with Steve about this event.

There will be ACST points given.
Steel Blocks are welcome and I would expect some sort of bonus for the top steel finisher. TBA.

Steve and Al Thomas are trying to help racing by adding a month of events at VCS.
Support them this weekend and if you don't like it, end your season and stay home the next week.

Everybody is aware of the ACST problems, this is a Steve Thomas and friends event, one of those friends is John Gurley.
Steve wants to promote this event at VCS to keep the track open.
The fairboard doesn't care if they have a race track or parking lot. The track is a good track and I have seen many good races there in all classes.
For those support class haters, there will be additional classes cause they help pay the bills too.
Bombers have been added to the Mods, Mini Sprints and Sprint cars.

Come spend a day this Saturday and see what happens. Choices for a weekend are dropping off. Here is an addition.

It's at least a good reason to stop Gross Hamburgers for a good lunch.

See you there.

Good to hear Steve and Al are in charge. When I read the first part of the original statement, I had no faith in the race. But when Steve came forward and took charge, I have a VERY good feeling about this event. From working with Steve with the Bell Helmet Shootout when I announced for Bill Nelson at VCS a few years back, hes always been a straight shooter and has came through with everything he has offered. I wish I could be there, but due to prior announcing committments, I cant. But I hope it goes well, and I can keep my clothes on during Sprint Week :)

VCS is home to me... it now needs help from the folks that can help the most .. that is the fans.. with many tracks closing and or close to it (Farmer City, Lincoln, Kamp, VCS, Kankakee closed last year but open this year, Charleston has problems) would be nice to see the place overflowing with people again. Thank you Steve and Al plus everyone else involved with the attempt. There are hurdles but they can be jumped with a lot of help and work. Let me know if I can help. Rick Isaacson.

Too bad they didn't schedule this for Sunday night instead of Saturday night. With all the out of state people that will be in for the Gold Crown they could have drawn on them to support their show. I know I would be there if it was Sunday, but Saturday night it's $15,000 to win midgets at Granite City for me.
