Also lost alot of respect for Jamie Fredrickson for his after race shennangins!!! He is nothing but a back marker week in & week out & he pulls that **** on Justin Grant that ran his balls off. If he is gonna act like that then he needs to take the holy roller stuff off his car or just stay home ( and out of everybodys way)!!!!!!!!!!!

The car count is down a few but it has been 20-24 for a few years, its 18-20 now. The quality of the racing hasnt dropped a bit!! Its not the number of cars that shows up it's WHICH cars show up. Consistently there have been 8-12 cars that are good enough to win there every week. Thats better than a lot of tracks that get 25-30 cars a night.

Mr Hoover can you please name the 8-12 cars that could win last night? How about last week or the week before when there were 18 sprint cars & 40 migets? Schafer? Lambert? Olsen? Bloom? Hewitt? Thomas? Fischer? Fredrickson?Spencer? I THINK i made my point!! The best race of the night was the hobby stock feature & that is a bad day at kokomo speedway!!!

I'll give you 10 from last night alone. Windom, Stanbrough, Cottle, Grant, East, Fitzpatrick, Elson, Gross, TMez & Christian. Add in a couple of darkhorses like Gurley & Spencer and now you are at 12.

Here are others who have raced there this year that weren't there last night. Armstrong, Clauson, Darland, Hines, Puterbaugh, Petty, Robbins, Welpott & Weir. I would classify these drivers as threats that are capable of winning as well.

Mud Packer- that is exactly my point !!! The names you mentioned are not showing up on a consistant basis Dont forget Nunter Sherinberg Dickie Gaines or even an occasional Critter Malone!!! The point i am trying to make is that gas city and Lburg are drawing these guys week in and week out and Kokomo is NOT and i cant figure out why!! With sprint week coming up & most people off work today i thought there would be a few more outsiders there this week

Good point. Plenty of capable cars/drivers. Sun Prairie, WI had a Sat. & Sun. show. Didn't we lose some from that? I haven't checked the results there.

The economy has decreased car counts from 5 years ago it sure seems. I don't know. Maybe I don't know what I am talking about. Sprint Week coming up, gain some sometimes to get some laps in and lose some being so close to the biggest week of the year for sprints in Indiana. Some teams don't chance tearing up equipment and spending more money that they need for sprint week. I have seen plenty of tight budget teams not run the whole sprint week series because they ran out of money only to return a month later at regular shows.

It is a possibility that sometimes some that don't show up consistently have other responsibilities they had going on. Unless you know every single driver personally we have know idea about things like that and is useless to over think it. Even when Brandon Petty was on a tear at Gas City there did come a time on occasion he had to miss or chose to miss races for different commitments. I bet it happens with others too.

I guess if it is that bad people wouldn't be talking mostly positive of the track the past 2 years.

What axe are you trying to grind? Dickie almost never has come here nor has Critter. Hunter came here weekly when he was driving for Walker but he is rushing around finding rides thus year and doesnt have a regular ride to be there every week. No disrespect to the burg but you compare a regular show at Kokomo to the drivers that show up at the burg for a regular show and there is NO COMPARISON. And it is at least equal to the drivers that show at GC. HAVE YOU EVEN SEEN these races. You have 6 posts on here and you come up with this crap? Either you arent paying attention or not going to any Kokomo races or you came here to stir up crap. My bet is on the last one.

What has it been 7 or so years ago when Dickie did come to Kokomo a lot but that was a situational thing. Didn't he have a ride locally for a while then he used he own car when he had the time and money to make when they were running Saturdays.

I think that you will find that the reason for lower car counts not only here but at other tracks as well is caused by numerous issues. I will stick with Kokomo for now since you brought this track up.

1)First of all the economy certainly isn't helping. I think that this is the number one factor in the whole deal. Many teams can't afford to race three nights per weekend. If they have to choose, probably Friday night and Saturday night win out. If you can only go to two nights of racing, what two nights would you choose and why? Numerous tracks to pick from and having Saturday and Sunday off to work on the race cars probably helps out as well.

2)Sunday is a tough night to race if you are traveling any distance at all. If you need to be at work on Monday morning, it makes it difficult to drive 2-3 hours to the track to race. I thank people like Kurt Gross, Chris Gurley, Kent Christian and Lee Hobbs, and others that I am probably forgetting, for coming up to Kokomo to race on Sunday night. I also thank the O'Connor's for moving the show along and getting us out at a decent hour. I have been going to Kokomo for a long time, and I remember the horrors of many years past.:15:

3)The O'Connor family has made Kokomo a great track. With that being said, the track surface is good week in and week out. It makes for a fast track and that can be a factor as well. Equipment can get torn up and many teams don't have full time crews to repair the cars. Next Friday and Saturday comes around pretty quickly if you are working evenings trying to get a car ready to go just with normal maintenance. Kokomo also has a wall around it that other tracks don't. Paragon, Bloomington, Gas City and Lincoln Park don't have that concrete wall around that can also grab a race car and cause damage.

4)I am sure that family time plays into this as well. Many still consider Sunday the time to spend with family and friends. We all need a day off and racers are no different. Many enjoy racing but not all family members have been strickened with the racing bug. Not everyone considers racing as the ONLY thing to do. Racers also enjoy other activities and plan accordingly. Sunday I think is that day that that happens.

5)Yesterday they also had competition from the USAC midget show at Angel Park. That took some of the drivers that I mentioned that have been there at other times this year. There are other races that draw teams away so it isn't always a given that we will see 25-30 sprint cars each week. It doesn't matter how many but who shows up. Quality not quantity is what matters.

Lastly, I am concerned with a statement that you make. You said that "the best race of the night was the hobby stock feature & that is a bad day at Kokomo Speedway!!!" Not every sprint car race is a classic but can you explain to me exactly what is bad with the "hobby stock" feature or any other feature for that matter being the best? I enjoy all types of racing and believe me many times I have seen the sprint car feature not be as competitive as one of the other classes. Someone once said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Enjoy it all.
