We have a winner! Ray Knepper was the initial St. Louis Area Racing Assoc. (SLARA) champion in 1947. Arnie Knepper won 5 more SLARA titles over a 25 year period - 1954, 1955, 1960, 1975, and 1979. Steve Knepper became the third Knepper to win the SLARA championship in 1983. Steve is also a seven time Midwest Auto Racing Assoc. (MARA) champ with titles in 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1996, and 2002. A total of 14 championships in 56 seasons for the amazing Knepper family. Now name the eastern family with titles from the 1940's through the 1990's.

Winner #2! Johnny Coy was the 1949 American Midget Racing Assoc. (AMRA) champion, the 1958 NASCAR midget champ, and a four time American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) champion 1968-69 & 1971-72. Son Joey was a three time North Eastern Midget Assoc. (NEMA) midget champ 1989, 1991, and 1993 while sandwiching an ARDC championship between his last two NEMA titles in 1992. Sadly, it appears that the Coy streak will end. Johnny Sr. retired many years ago and passed away about a year ago. Joey and brother Johnny Jr. retired several years ago as well. Richie Coy never really got into midgets and the newest generation of Coys won't be old enough for full midgets for a while.
