One of these days they'll realize that Jerry McClung should be elected too.

Oh, and Johnny Anderson.

After having a night to sleep on it - I owe the members of this message board and Mr. Mills an apology.

Mr.Mills -you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

Please excuse my over zealous reaction. Yes, I know the individuals in question. That is more than likely the cause of the tiraid. Hey, it is only natual to feel good when an honor like this is bestowed on someone that you know.

As for URC being a 'B' class organization - well that is once again your opinion. I spent many years traveling with the organization as an offical and member of the press. And will admit to everyone that this organization holds a special place for me.

Also, I want to extend congratulations to ALL of the Class of 2008.

Respectivly submitted,

The gentleman is correct. The great Johnny Anderson should take his place of honor in the sprint car HOF. Another snub for the "Midnight Cowboy" - what a shame.

I have to agree with Dean on this one.As I saw 90% of 'fitzs" 410 races and he was average at best in a 410.Great guy, great UareCrazyRacer but not Hall of fame material. But he is in! And I hope he enjoys HIS weekend.

Would it be fair to say that we should split the HOF into one for 410 and one for 360 drivers?

Just because a guy is better in one form of racing doesn't me he is any less a driver in another form of racing.

That is the way I am reading these replies. If I am wrong then I am wrong.

After all it is called the National Sprintcar Hall of Fame and not the 410 Sprintcar Hall of Fame.

No - engine displacement size changes over time - the vast majority of drivers in the NSCHoF never drove anyting near as powerful as a 360 sprint car let alone a 410 -- many drove with skinny tires, no roll cages etc. etc. The vote at present is divided into eras to deal with some of this - but thre are always a range of considerations that a voter has to take into account - that is what makes it interesting and why debates will be inevitable.

I agree.

There are instances in other sports where guys may not have competed against the "best of the best" yet still were deemed HoF worthy.

Billy Shaw never played in the NFL yet was inducted into the HoF (Only player in this category). He played in the AFL which many say was inferior to the NFL and many say it was not.

A fair amount of Negro Baseball League players have been inducted into the HoF although they didnt play against the best of the best. Yes, they were barred from playing so it is not their fault but....the fact is they didnt play against the best yet were still deemed talented enough to be included with the best.

Okay. I was kind of wondering what all the fuss was about the inductees. Anyone who can win that many races in a career has to be more than just an average driver.

But if you think about the baseball analogy, Pete Rose and JOe Jackson aren't in the hall and there are reasons why. Not waying that is the reason here but maybe those who aren't in it yet have given the voters a reason to not put them in.

There are a lot of good drivers that raced at Chico on Friday nights against nobodies! The same drivers skipped Calistoga and raced Baylands Saturday nights. That is enough. Very easy pickings. Those drivers are in the HOF. Even before the Great Johny Anderson! That is why it is a Hall of Shame!:headbang:
