3 or 4. All but one at THAT, the season opener at the burg was the other one. Had some awesome hoosier hospitality there. Thanks again Dave for what you did. Hopefully I hit a new track this year. Much like coasters, racing has become a second thought, I will be spending more times trying to get into better health (lose some weight by doing stuff outside and excercising more {kayaking}).

Re: Where did you end up in 2009?
I think I ended up with 116 races in 15 states, maybe? I hit more winged shows this year, but virtually no non-open wheel stuff, although I planned to hit a few more. I actually got hit pretty hard by rainouts, especially late in the year.
Some pretty outstanding races this year. Plenty of good stuff out there to see!! |
Re: Where did you end up in 2009?
Sorry I left you out of my origional post Spridge. I knew you saw a bunch. I may someday use vac time for something other than racing, or maybe not. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did.

Re: Where did you end up in 2009?
58, down about 10 from the last few years. Didnt travel much, Eldora & Danville were the only ones outside of Indiana. Saw some great races and enjoyed hanging out with the usual suspects and a lot of others I met along the way. Thanks to Bill for creating this board so I could meet all these people that are as nuts about this sport as I am. Ever told a co-worker or non-race person that you went to 60 races last year? Remember the look you got?

My actual “Races seen” total was 68 (in 6 staes-Oh., Ky., Ind., Ill., Pa & Mich.), plus 7 additional dates that were qualifying or practice dates, although a few of those were double headers that included a race later the same evening at a different location. Was only rained out once, at Haubstadt. The race total of 68 includes Indy 500 & the MotoGP races @ IMS, IRL @ Kentucky, the AMA flat trackers at the Indy Mile, a few Late Model:18: only races (L’burg, Eldora, Moler & Lake Cumberland), and a few late season Drag races at Edgewater Sports Park (Cleves, Oh) & Thorn Hill Dragway (Morning View, Ky.)
New tracks visited were Vermilion County Speedway (3 times), Kalamazoo Speedway (USAC Sprints) and Lake Cumberland Speedway (Ky), where I went on Nov. 7th, thinking no one would recognize me there, and I barely parked the car and headed to the gate when the I heard my named called out from the atop of the grandstand (the steepest grandstands I ever seen). It was the SHIORTBUS!:6: |
