They seemed to have a great time and we welcome them back the next time the 'Burg is racing and they are not. :6:

And you want to talk CLASS???? On Friday (USAC 10K) we were graced by the classy additions of Mrs. Ed K. (Karen), Mrs. Dirtfan (Nancy), Jerry Shaw's significant other (Kathy), and, for a bit, Ricky Williams and his sweet thing. And, for the first time in a couple of years (hadn't seen the "new" 'Burg), Section "A" favorite Kimb Stewart ventured into our midst, though I kept her pretty much to myself. :8: How's that for CLASS, my envious friends???

Then on Saturday (MSCS 10K) the above folks (minus Ricky Williams & squeeze...he was racing) returned for more "A" camaraderie. Additionally, we added Mud Packer and his lovely Kelly. Kimb, saying she felt "totally unthreatened" on Friday (O.K., I'll admit that bruises my ego a bit) returned with her sister Jen. Again, no dummy I, old FB kept Kim and Sis closeby. The only bad vibes from the two nights might have been (I heard a report) that Lauren Besecker was fussing with Kimb for moving in on her "A" territory. ;)

All joshin' aside, if we must end the midwest racing season, those two nights were a great way to do it for me. How about a polite round of applause for Tim Johnson, Dave Reese and the crew for their superb track prep. Many may not know that it wasn't just the 1/2" that fell Thurs. nite and Sat. morn. We had received over 4" of precip in the few days previous. Cherie........looking fabulous as ever sold me some more losers (or is it loosers?). It was worth it, as always. :18: Kudos and :6: to the entire 'Burg staff. Unlike yours truly, you've improved with age. :9:

Finally, got to meet Pete Gulick and Mrs. Gulick, briefly as I didn't want to interfere with their work. They couldn't have been nicer. Danny took me by the hand over to meet Mr. Happy for the first time. It was neat to finally put a face with all the funny stuff he has posted here over the years. Still waiting for his next flyover. J.J. Hughes dad (John, I think) was also generous with his time as were George Pollock (Drew's dad) and soooo many others as we toured the pit area. Thanks to all.

I've had enough off season already. Let's go racing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is it April yet???

6 months to go, Marv..... :13:

I had a great time over the weekend as well.
Met, Jerry Shaw for a bit.
Finally got to talk with Brent T Funk for quite awhile.
David Lynch was a great person to meet.
Shortbus, CHuck and Company lazin at the fire station.
Honor to finally meet JJ Hughes for about ten minutes friday. Loved his Eldora recolection.

Had a great two evenings with Friend MTek from this site watchin the incredible racing.

Was great of Ballou and guys to make the rounds for Travis Friday. Thanks also to JR. Todd, Bigbudman and the bidders for a good cause.

Got to meet for a extended time Kevin Eckert and pick his brain. (I'll never figure it out but apreciate walking sprint car encyclopidia and his views. Nice Guy!)

Got picked on by Aero, I think there was a hug pic taken? IM NOT PAYING!

Got to sleep about six sat morn and wasn't myself till almost race time sat!

The track? Man, I don't know what to think. It was awesome. Whats weird to me is the different driving styles and those willing to go faster and faster to do what needs to be done.

I don't know much about the Cali tracks but there are three that kinda fit the description of hauling it in like a madman and seeing what happens, THOSE Three ARE KOKOMO and LBURG, Tri State. There is no definiative running line at any of em that works most of the time. Im not trying to take away from the other tracks either as I've seen great racing at them as well.

Hope everyone got home safe and had a great weekend. I know I did.
Thanks Bozo, Reese, Tim J and the rest of the staff for putting on a excellent weekend.

Chuck, who quite honestly preferes the USAC format either as it is or as it was run under at The GAINES CLASSIC (Passing points) Top Two in a 8 car race is tough odds for certain.

But the sad truth is that is the main reason I do not go to The 'Burg as much as I used to.

They even had undercover police dogs there last weekend. The heart shaped thing on the collar is a video camera.
Luckily even undercover police dogs can be bribed. Good thing there is a Dunkin Donuts right up the road.
