Re: American Racer Tire Help

The SD-23 is softer and is not in production any longer, the SD-28 compound has been changed to the SD-30.

The SD-23B tear strength of rubber was greater than standard SD-23,

The "B" in the compound does not mean BELTED

Thanks, Tony, that's what I thought, but if ya just "think", it's better to keep out of it, and let someone that "knows", tell it like it is. Bob

I know back in the day there used to be a sythetic rubber but don't remember how to identify it. Does anybody else still run these tires anywhere?

I would sell a few of these if anybody wants one to run Paragon next week.

Dave, THE 23 isn't that great at Paragon unless you have a tacky track and an early heat race. The 28 is only slightly harder, and if I recall has the big block pattern and is a good early in the night choice. I ran American Racers for 19 years and my preferred tire at Paragon was a 17inch sd33 for the heats on a normal night and if the track wasn't going to take rubber in the feature it was great also (or if it was only going to take it late in the race, like the last 6-8 laps. the 33 would make it ) If you know the track will rubber up for the features, if you're running the second feature and want to be fast and have the tire make the distance, don't run anything less than a sd44 or it will wear through if the track is rubbered down. The tires you mention, from my experience and opinion, are not the best choice of AR tires for Paragon. Why don't you run there next week? I'll be available if you need a hand.
