I think you mean grooves not groves, lol. It may have just the bottom lane for awhile, but then again with grip everywhere, it could be really great too.

*The new RR tire for this year was not as fast for qualifying.
*The overall speed of the field was better than ever.
*The race was good.
*There was a great crowd.
*The track doesn't need to be paved.
*Nothing to complain about.

Would it not be correct to say, the track is still the same speed, not moving, it's the cars that make it seem faster or slower, IMHO!
