Re: New DII Engine rules
Jim
I guess old age is doing something to my mind. $85,000.00 would be a lot of money for a track that you would have to pump your own electricity to. But there are a lot of little track all over the nation like Union County. I googled it and what I saw was one guy in the grand stands watching 5 or 6 wore out late model dirt cars playing follow the leader. The way I see it for racing to survive at these little "Bull Rings" they must do two things. Make the tracks smaller to accommodate the smaller new cars of the day. We are talking basically Ecotec Midgets. Why not Ecotec Late Models and Ecotec Open wheel Modified Cars also. Right now the countryside is filled with these little motors,(maybe not tomorrow but for right now them things are everywhere. Motor cycle powered cars sure let them run also "Mod Light's">>" Ecotec Lights" No difference. By doing so, the old out dated but high dollar even when racing worn out junker V8 motors are out of the program. The tracks are smaller thus making for a more competitive race for the fans. The track owner can roll back on the purse a little and sell more tickets at a lower price to the fans. When we got back in to racing in the 90's we raced at Wonder Valley Salem and you know what they did not run anything but 4 cylinder race cars. We raced 600cc Mini Sprints and we were the main event. There were Vegas>>4 cylinder PU trucks>>and 4 cylinder Hornets. They always had 100+ cars in the pits and a full grand stand. They Payed a real good purse had a nice free Banquet and awards at the end of the season. They Competed with two larger tracks on the same Saturday Nights just 30 miles north of them and put on a fine show. Times change new owners were either ate up with Mini Sprints or V8 cars. They ran off the 4 cylinder cars. Vega Cars just plain disappeared (make Mental note) and little Salem was on a down hill slide. The day of the Big V8 Powered cars racing on local tracks is probably numbered. If the smaller race tracks cling to the V8 Cars their days are probably numbered also. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
