Re: kokomo updates
Did the community have its own fireworks display, ot is this like Rushville where these fireworks are the only ones in town on July 4? There was one time at Rushville that they red flagged the feature so the fireworks could start on time.

Pretty much sums up what I thought too. The racing at Kokomo has been 2nd to none all year every time I have been there. Cant really ask for much better weekly racing. I just want to get home at a decent hour on Sunday night, and I never know consistently what time the races will get over with. With an hours drive home after the races, and an early am wakeup call I dont want to arrive home at 11:45 PM or later. I've been to the majority of the races at Kokomo this year, and the only night I remember getting out before 10PM was opening night, and that night we were out the gate at 8:45, and I think I even posted thanks for getting us in the gate and out of the gate instead of dragging things out. When they start getting us out consistently at a reasonable hour, then I'll be the first in line here to say thanks for running a quick paced program. |
Re: kokomo updates
I still don't know what you two, Dicksy and Andrew Quinn, Medicine Woman, are talking about! I tell you I am there every week, stay for everything, and out of the eight events that have been run, I think only two were ones you could say went late. The first was the Hewitt Classic (when you have midgets, there will be yellows -- many yellows). The second was the June 29 program, in which four classes were run instead of three. And by late, I mean I'm walking out of there at 11 or after.
I just don't think you can lump the fireworks night and the Sprintweek show into the "late" category, and especially into the "it's the track's fault it was late" category. USAC dicks around. We know this. And we've discussed the fireworks show. I'm into my 27th year of going to Kokomo, and I can't remember even one year that they shot the fireworks before the A. And it especially wasn't going to happen this year, with it still being broad daylight after the B. I don't know if you people are new to the sport or what. Maybe I missed the memo that mandated that all races had to be over before 9:00. If you had any sense of history, especially about Kokomo, you'd recall that they qualified the stock cars, and heats didn't start until 8 when the Lipkeys owned the track. Wow, how much ******** would that have generated on this board???? In summary: You know it's a work night. You know you've got a good drive to get to your bed. You know there's a chance that -- gasp! -- cars will spin or flip, and lengthen the show. Deal with the consequences or stay home. |

Move closer!! Don't come at all!! Do something besides ******** about something that isn't even in question by any logical and experienced race fan. |

Re: kokomo updates
I live 3 hours from Kokomo and I think they do a terrific job of getting the job done in a timely manner. I have yet to be home before 2:30 am but I have truly enjoyed all three of my visits to Kokomo this year and I will be back.
