Midwest Connection - USAC midget winner at Watkins Glen road course - 1963

Veteran open wheeler Eddie Johnson from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio won the 1963 USAC midget race on the Watkins Glen road course. :Steer

That's a name out of my past! Eddie Johnson was the team mate to Dave McDonald who perished in the 1964 2nd lap fire with Eddie Sachs in the 500. They were both (Eddie J and Dave) driving the Mickey Thompson built and owned All-State Specials.

PS....I wonder how they geared the midgets for the road course with a long straightaway and some tight turns?

Eddie is part of an answer to a trivia question - and a man most forget on this part - who has driven a upright dirt chassis car, a roadster, and rear engine car at Indianapolis

Eddie most have been a very small man because that midget cockpit looks like a champcar cockpit with him in it. Anyone else notice that?
