Good car counts at Macon tonight for POWRi. Thirty six national midgets ran heats (no Keith Kuntz cars in attendance), thirty seven 600's and twenty D2 midgets. Midget heat winners were Shane Golobic over Brad Loyet and Chance Morton. Heat two was Michael Pickens running on top of the cushion through turns one and two over Travis Young and Jake Blackhurst. Heat three was Austin Brown winning over Zach Daum and Zeb Wise. Heat four was Tucker Klaasmeyer beating Logan Seavey and Aidan Roosevans (13 years old). Heat five went to Andrew Felker over Terry Babb and Tyler Thomas. Chance Morton and Jimi Quin won the B mains.
POWRi midget feature was decent but not great. Michael Pickens led the entire distance staving off Zach Daum, Zeb Wise from eighth, Brad Loyet and Shane Golobic from ninth. Jake Neuman rolled over on homestretch on lap 13 and was OK. Twenty lap 600 feature went to Nick Howard for his first career POWRi 600 win and became the 6th different driver to win in this division since 2005. Probably was the best feature of the evening. They cut D2 midget feature while running from 20 laps to 15 laps due to approaching curfew and still two local features yet to run. Andy Malpocker won his second straight win in this one. Last race of series is tomorrow night at Lincoln starting at 6. Bruce Eckel ![]() ![]() |

It wasn't the best feature we've ever seen at Macon but it's still fun to watch them run up against the wall. Great battle in the middle of the field though.
My favorite thing about Macon is the woman who runs the front gate. She's the most friendly person ever. My son and I would go out to the truck several times and she never had us get our hand stamped or show her our tickets. She just smiled and said "You guys are good". I know some other race tracks who could take a lesson from the friendly people in Illinois who know how to make fans feel welcome.

Anyone know why the Kunz cars weren't at Macon and aren't at Lincoln tonight?
Not trying to start anything, just curious...

![]() They did a good job salvaging the track. It's just hard to have 100+ racecars, in 90 degree heat, and not have a rubbered up surface. That said, listening to the crate models squealling tires going into the turns was cringe worthy. ![]() |
