The wife and I are thinking about making the 12+ hr run to PA for the Lincoln, Williams Grove, Williams Grove SC and Port Royal part of Eastern Storm. We've never been to any of those tracks. Can anyone provide any info about places to stay in the area (camping IS NOT an option!) things to do in the area (we plan to go to Gettysburg, but what else?) and any info about the tracks?

Thank you in advance!

If you want to pick one place to stay look at Mechanicsburg Hotels just north of Rt 15 and the PA turn pike.

http://hotelguides.com/pennsylvania/...pa-hotels.html

All three tracks have good seating choices, plus there are fan areas in the infield if you want to view from your own lawn chair. Cross over the bridge at Williams Grove and take in a some of the racing action from Beer Hill and the back straight and into turn three.

Also consider a visit to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing at Latimore Valley.

http://www.emmr.org/

BTW the Williams Grove Old Timers will have vintage cars on display both nights at Williams Grove in the infield. I forgot to mention, but there is a tunnel under the track in turn one for entry from the main grand stands.

I hope this helps you some.

Check out Gettysburg while in town. Plenty of hotels in that area if u opt to stay for a night or 2.

if u like hiking...check out the Appalachian Trail and museum at Pine Grove State Park. The 2000mile trail runs right through the area. Boiling Springs PA is the halfway point.

If you home base out of mechanicsburg you're 15min from the grove and 45ish to Lincoln and port and close to the above

PS...EMMR is a must see.

Our racing family is looking forward to hitting the eastern storm racing events this year. Looking forward to seeing some new racing tracks and meeting with all the great racing fans at the racing events. Have fun and enjoy all the great things that we all love. Thanks.

Lincoln is the closest in size to most of the Indiana tracks and should be even more enjoyable now that they put in aluminum seats on top of the concrete. Williams Grove has the mystique and history and is one of my favorite big tracks. Second half of Silver Crown race last year there was awesome! Port Royal is a neat track which sits in the iconic town of Port Royal and sitting in the grandstands you look out over the entire town. Best seats in the house are the new high rise aluminum grandstands toward turn four. Sitting up high is the best and most unique view of the speedway. Hope you have good weather and an enjoyable time.

I always check Hotels.com & there are plenty of inexpensive hotels in Carlisle, about 15 minutes from WG. Gettysburg hotels tend to be expensive, major tourist zone
I like to go for a swim during the day at Gifford Pinchot State Park, about 1/2 hr. from the Grove & 15 minutes from EMMR
Lots of pretty countryside, Pa. is 56% forest

My wife and family went to PA last year for Spring Break and some attractions we saw were Gettysburg and we highly recommend you getting a tour guide who will drive you around and explain everything! This was very helpful because we saw everything they showed us, but explained it in great detail, which we wouldn't have known without them. Not sure where your coming from but if you will be on the turnpike, stop off where the Flight 93 memorial is, very humbling and awesome experience! Definitely go to the Eastern Mueseum! Have fun!

Mechanicsburg is ideal as the hotels are 5 minutes from the Grove and about equidistant from Port and Lincoln. I've not been impressed by USAC at Lincoln, but have always really enjoyed them at the Port. As was mentioned before, the SIlver Crown race was well received last year with a big Outlaw-size crowd.
