Just an FYI..................If I had missed this change previously, please ignore post.

Didn't make sense to run Friday when nothing else was running that weekend in October makes even less sense to run on Thursday. Wanted to go this year but would have had to take a half day off to get there. Now I would have to take a half day Thursday and Friday off. Guess I won't be going after all

It has been run on different days of the week each year if I remember correctly. Last year it was on a Friday, and that produced the biggest crowd the event had ever had. I was under the impression it was on a Saturday this year. Glad you posted this. I'll still go, but I don't understand the reasoning behind this change.

From track web site.....

Wayne City, IL – The Fourth Annual Jason Leffler Memorial race will be held at the Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Illinois on October 20th, 2016. The date of the race was recently changed to allow drivers who race across multiple series the opportunity to still participate in the Leffler Memorial. The race and its pre-race auction were developed by track owner Doug Stringer in 2013 after Leffler, a long-time friend, was tragically killed during a sprint car race on June 12, 2013 at Bridgeport Speedway. The loss of such an incredibly talented driver and young father was felt immediately within the racing community. One of the main concerns of Leffler’s family, friends and fans after his passing was the wellbeing of his young son, Charlie. Each year a portion of the proceeds from the Leffler Memorial Auction and the Leffler Memorial Race are donated to the Charlie Dean Leffler Discretionary Trust. The 2016 Jason Leffler Memorial Auction will take place one day before the race on October 19th, 2016. Details for the auction will be released at a later date.

In 2013 and 2014 The Leffler Memorial was run on the Tuesday before Labor Day Weekend. We were able to attend both '13 & '14 since we were camped at Rend Lake the week leading up to the Labor Day Weekend racing at The Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.

I may be wrong, but with Great Clips presenting this event, my guess is to allow their WOO driver to be there.

Think you are right Brent. There is not any midget races scheduled for the Friday date and just a POWRi West race in Texas on Saturday. WoO runs at Lakeside Friday and Salina,OK postponed from earlier in the year on Saturday
