This is why ALL tracks should be required to have an ambulance on site.

Any kinda description of what happened, when, where, what and why?
Was there a fire crew with foam? Was someone hurt? I can put a picture of a dented bumper and say this is why all cars should have brakes, That being said, Yes, Its the drivers responsibility to make sure he has a reasonable safe atmosphere to race. There are enough unpredictable s in racing, Parts breaking etc. But you can make sure there is decent fire crew, ambulance and you have the best safety equipment on your cars and body. If not, LOAD UP! Better to race tomorrow at a place that does than never be able to race again.

This was at Plymouth Speedway last night during the 600 Sprint Feature. Happy to report driver walked away with no injuries. Fire crew was to him within seconds. We are very lucky to have a great fire crew at Plymouth. While this picture looks really bad, it was a very quick flash fire after a blown engine that extinguished itself on its own very quickly.

So is the driver in the car at the time of the picture? I kind of think the safety crew is not as good as you think. If the car is stopped in the picture. I do not see any safety member near the car.

The driver is in the car. But as I said this was a flash fire that happened after the engine blew. I am not absolutely sure if the car was still rolling in this picture or not. I can guarentee they were to him quickly.

Very glad to hear things turned out good and safety crews were there.I was aware where this happened at.the point is not where, who, how, etc.the point is there has been more and more discussions of running events without an ambulance on site.these tracks/promoters/clubs know who they are.it's scary and right down freakn ridiculous that some would even think this is an option.let's take time to consider if saving a few bucks is worth a fellow(or your own) racers life is worth it.

Plymouth has an ambulance on site every week which is great. From what I heard the driver was still rolling in that picture and the fire was out very quickly. The fire crew was on the car within 5 seconds of that picture, according to the photographer who took the picture. Fire crew is off to the left of the picture headed straight to the car.
I was at a different track Saturday watching a $5,000 to win 600 race at a track that 90% of the time does not have an ambulance on site. However they still have over 60 cars show up to race. |
