Steve Irwin Scores BOSS Lima Win / Show Rolls on to Lawrenceburg!

Another stout field of wingless BOSS sprint car drivers packed the pit area at Limaland Speedway last night. Forty sprint cars signed in and Fenton, Michigan driver Steve Irwin picked up a win that was a long time coming. The "Flying Zero Racing" team had led many laps in several different sanctioned events over the years, but that elusive first BOSS win waited for the action packed Lima quarter mile. Matt Westfall closed in on Irwin as the pair sliced through lapped traffic late in the non stop, 25 lap A-Main. In the end, Irwin proved that it was finally HIS night as he held on at the line over Westfall, Dallas Hewitt, Shawn Westerfeld, and Luke Hall who picked up "hard charger" honors with a 21st to 5th place run!

Heat race wins were claimed by Brandon Spithaler, Westerfeld, Irwin, Toby Alfry, and Todd Keen. The twin B-Main events were taken by Hall and Chad Wilson. 2014 series champion, Mike Miller, was the night's only casualty with a vicious end-over-end flip in hot laps. Thankfully Mike walked away from the crash.

Tonight, the traveling outlaw tour rolls into the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. With last night's fourth place finish, Shawn Westerfeld took over the points lead by a mere 5 points over Cooper Clouse. Westerfeld will be looking to expand that lead at his home track where he has already picked up 2 wins this season.

Another great field of cars are expected at Lawrenceburg to tackle the high banked 3/8 mile oval. BOSS encourages everyone to come on out for "family fun night" where kids 12 and under will be admitted free! Watch for the BOSS souvenir trailer where fans can pick up scorecards for only $1 to be eligible for prize drawings and play the BOSS Pick 'Em contest for a shot at $25 cash.

There are so many action packed moments, That its impossible to list em all, Five heats, Two consi's and the main, done before ten with two other full classes running, One with a consi.

Anyway, One of those moments were in the second B main with Adam Cruea running a strong transfer second and a orange 17 on a mission who came on in the last five laps, Pulled even with Cruea coming to the checker on a WHEELIE down the whole front straight and even goosed it onto one wheel to nip Cruea at the flag stand in a photo finish.

Another was a heat where Westerfeld ran down Westfall and passed him for the win. Fans next to me said, "That's something you don't see in Winged heats."

See you folks at the Burg, If ya need to cool down, go under the grandstand Its shaded and usually has a breeze blowing.
