Anyone have a dyno sheet they'd be willing to forward of a STOCK (from factory/junkyard/NO internal changes/cleanup/head shaving/anything) Ecotech with all of the good bolt-ons (mechanical injection, ignition, header, etc). Talking flywheel. I know I could look up one as it is in a car, but curious what a couple $1000 of bolt-ons provide. Thank-you.
PS - I know other brands may offer more & I have nthn against any of them.

What you see is what you get. Horsepower is in the head and combustion chamber. The after market injection will help a little because the breathing will improve a little without running the charge through a single throttle body, acceleration will also improve a little. Removing flywheels do nothing for Horsepower. The way the rules are written last time I checked there just is not much power to add and that is a good thing. The oil pans connecting rods and add on pumps are not going to make more power they are just going to strengthen the motor up and make it more suited to racing. The key is governing these engines with the factory stock as cast ports and valve size. A good valve job with the right designed seats and a little better shaped valve will help just a little but that would be variable. Cam shafts can improve VE a little but it is hard to get much help if the ports and valve remained in stock form. I think for the sake of performance with these little motors the rules need to be changed to allow the use of after market pistons with higher compression ratios to help the Methanol burn more efficiently and requiring the use of stock camshafts and valves with aftermarket valve springs racers would notice a bigger bang for their buck. The glittering Bull $hit add on parts are going to make guys feel more like real racers. ![]() Add on or changing ECM programs also wont help HP. They can just switch around the point where more power is produced>>do you want that torque down low coming out of the turn or at higher RPM at the end of the straight. This was the rub on VVT racers were told they could do both. In fact the manufactures were taking a racing cam and advancing it at low RPM"s to make it Idle better. Keep people away from them heads and have fun. Honest Dad himself ![]() ![]() |

Sorry I said "flywheel"...been messing around with stock cars some lately still too...I meant "off the back of crank"...lol. I'd rather know a # off the engine, & not through a chassis #. I guess it's kind of a secret...seems to be about the case when one is in the market to acquire one tooled up & ready to go; for the most part anyway, I do know some are in the classifieds tho...

If I was looking for a good motor I would load up my leak down tester and start checking. Yeh a few may have flywheels on them too. Honest Dad himself ![]() ![]() |

crawling around a junkyard, I'd need a GOOD portable air compressor to do that tho? lol. if the donor car still had a starter, I could even do a compression check! But ya, I'd never bolt on $1000s of dollars of add-ons to smthn with low #s...

When buying Motorcycle motors the the best rule of thumb is buy the newest lowest mile motor you can find, be prepared to pay a premium but it is worth it. Again the way they wrote the rule for D2 Midgets they ruled out the latest model motors with the 2400cc displacement limit. Most of the new motors are 100cc's too big. ![]() Honest Dad himself ![]() ![]() |

From what I know compression will give you torque at the expense of heat. With the compresson left around stock you might be loosing power but you are gaining longevity. The key to making power is all in the camshaft. The modern 4 valve design and port configuration flows as well as most ported 2 valve designs. Honda is the leader in hp per liter. Make no misconception that every little bit helps. The best thing that can be done is to keep it as cheap as possible so all can participate.

So why allow injection and dry sumps?

I agree. Both should be gone across the board. Good luck with that!
