It's U.M.P.'s crate engine late model class. At quick glance, there are a couple of other rules for limiting costs.
They also have a similar "Pro" or "Limited" division for modifieds. FYI... What U.M.P. is for most racers is a national sanction that is placed on your weekly local track racing in the classes listed. They help by setting a standard set of rules that are used all across the country. The tracks turn in their weekly results, and U.M.P. uses those to calculate your national, regional, and state U.M.P. points. You receive a given amount of points for your feature finishing position, and bonus points based on the car count. Each division has a maximum number of races that you can count toward your yearly point total. Once you've passed that amount of races, your worst finishes are thrown out and replaced with higher ones. At the end of the year you have a champion. U.M.P. isn't a touring series, but they do have a pretty cool deal for (Super) Late Models called the Summer Nationals. It's roughly 26 races in 30 days with pretty decent purses, and a points champion. There are only a handful of guys that run the entire Summer Nationals. That's a pretty grueling schedule! Hope that helps! |
