So, first off I apologize for misspelling BC's name.
Second, while he was the class of the field, it was not easy. In fact, it was some what chaotic. BC was easily leading his heat race when he bicycled hard in 3-4 and completely lost momentum, but he kept the car moving. He came home in 3rd in his heat. In the main event he started on the third row and within 6-8 laps he was easily out front. A little past mid way, he tangled with a lapped car, and the lapped car stalled out. At the time, it looked like BC was also going to stall out but he kept it going. However, on the yellow flag laps, he made a stop in the hot pits to fix a reported flat tire. At that time there were 10-11 cars on the track. He charged back up to 4-5 and bicycled again in the same spot in turn 3-4. This time he was not able to save it and another car also wrecked. This time on the restart, he was around 5-6 and was charging towards the front. He made it up to second but the leader had a sizeable lead. On the white flag lap, the leader missed his mark going into one as he was passing a lapped car and it allowed BC to pass him for the win on the back straight. Overall, it was a great night of racing for the AMS midgets. In a somewhat surprising note, Cole Wood was also at the track, but had mechanical problems in both the heat and the main event. I don't remember seeing him at all in the heat race, and I only saw him on the pace laps for the main event. |
