Given that Fairbury, Illinois is less than an hour from home for us we're excited about the POWRi National Midgets coming to Fairbury American Legion Speedway for the very first time.

This is the first time in many years that open wheel cars have graced the Fairbury 1/4 mile dirt. The midgets will be running for a decent winners payout of $3000.00. Fairbury is a hard core dirt late model track and they've bundled the POWRi National Midgets with a $2000.00 to win mud taxi feature and a $1000.00 modified mud taxi feature.

We can depend on FALS to run a good, tight show with high quality track prep and with only 2 support divisions we should be on our way home relatively early after what those of us who are familiar with FALS expect to be a great midget show.

Here's to hoping the weather cooperates and this is a successful and profitable show for FALS so they bring back the POWRi boys and girls soon and often!! Hope to see some of you Indiana folks over here for this deal!! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Thanks for askin' Jim, especially since I inadvertently and absentmindedly forgot to put the date in the original post.

It's Saturday night July 11th.

They will qualify the dirt late models but I don't know if they qualify the modifieds or not. and generally hot laps are at 6 pm CDT.

Fairbury & Belle-Clair Speedway
July 11th & 12th, 2015

Millstadt, IL - Coming off three straight nights of racing from the 4th of July weekend, including the Pepsi Nationals at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, POWRi will return to Illinois this weekend. Saturday, July 11th at Fairbury American Legion Speedway will star the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series, co-sanctioned with the Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Series, paying $3000 to WIN and $250 to start. Sunday, July 12th at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, IL will feature both the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and the Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series for the "Battle at Belle-Vegas III."

The arrival of POWRi at the 1/3 mile semi-banked oval of Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL will be the first actual appearance the series will have made after the inaugural appearance in 2014 was rained out. Saturday's event will also be the solo visit for the series in 2015. Sunday's show at Belle-Clair will be the fourth POWRi visit of 2015, with the previous being the final night of Illinois SPEED Week where Tyler Thomas took the midget feature win and Joe B. Miller held off Nathan Benson for the win in micro competition.

Currently halfway through the season, Darren Hagen holds a comfortable lead in Lucas Oil National Midget Series competition over Andrew Felker, even with Felker's back-to-back wins at Macon Speedway for POWRi Freedom Fest. In the Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series, 2013 and 2014 champion, Nathan Benson sits atop the standings over Aryton Gennetten. Benson has three wins this season, doubling-down this past weekend in the POWRi Freedom Fest at Macon Speedway.

Seen a handful of video's from FALS, including the 2014 PDC (Prairie Dirt Classic) and I must say, what a phenomenal race track. Perfect shape, perfect cushion, perfect clay. If I wasn't 12 hours away I would be there in a heartbeat. Hope you guys have a great show on Saturday night.

Video of last year's PDC..

DirtHawk, they do NOT allow coolers, period. With, or without beer.

Also, they do allow camping on speedway property.

It's been quite a while since we've attended FALS (like I said before, it's a hardcore late model facility) but I believe the gates open at 4 PM CDT. and I know for sure hot laps start at 6 PM CDT.

Some call FALS a 1/3 mile but in reality it is a 1/4, I've measured it up on Google Earth more than once.

Hopefully the weather doesn't interfere this weekend. Last Summer the day and night before the POWRi show was scheduled it rained 6" and they never rescheduled.

FALS is owned by the local American Legion Post and they depend on a lot of volunteer help thus their season dates are limited and there is little latitude in rescheduling rain-outs. They have some funky policies if a rain-out occurs after the racing program starts, too.

I made up my mind years ago, that when POWRi is running at Little Belleville, then thats where I'll be, even if there are races closer by.That's where I'll be on Sunday night.
