Today marks the 15 year anniversary of the loss of one of my racing heroes. Kenny was a great guy and an awesome driver.

In 1997 when Kenny started in the truck series, we painted our stock car with his number and his loss is the reason we still carry the #98 today on Brandon Morin's sprint car as a tribute to Kenny when he made it to NASCAR.

Although I never met Kenny Jr I am friends with his mom and dad. Great people, Kenny Sr now has a midget team running the Indiana Bullrings, guess that proves no matter what you never give up racing once its in your blood. I have had the Honor of conducting two auctions for the Irwins and they were both very successful. The Craftsman truck Kenny Jr. won Texas in as well as the 1st midget he drove are now on display at Ray Skillmans Car Museum In Greenwood Indiana. Ray bought them at the auction. If you havent been there its a MUST GO !!!

Ran many a lap with Kenny, in go-karts, at Columbus, In Fairgrounds, and on some of the road trips, nice a guy as you'd ever meet, a real person, and a real racer, as with others, I can still see the smile on his face when we met at a race track, great to have known him, and sad to miss him! Bob

I always thought Kenny was a good guy. I was lucky to talk to him a few times. I remember hearing of his death as I arrived at Toledo for a sprint race. The person who told me was a very young Spridge. A very sad night.
