MMSA organizers and Salem Thunder Valley managment have reached an agreement preventing Salem's weekly shows from overlapping our Friday scheduled events. This will be mutually beneficial for both organizations in an effort to further grow these economical cars. In return we encourage MMSA racers to participate with any track when not racing for our series.
We are also looking at the possibility of co-sanctioning or allowing D2 midgets to compete during our non wing events. The D2 cars will be required to abide by all D2 rules and regulations, all Lightning cars will be required to follow our procedures. We will need positive feedback and support to move this idea forward. We have many non wing shows that race on Saturdays, racers would have the opportunity to travel and race two nights in a row at tracks that are within close proximity of each other. Please let us know what you think!

What is the MMSA driver minimum age rule? My son Nick Williams has outgrown a 1/4 midget at 12 yrs old and looking for our next step up.

Minimum age is dictated by the track, we have had as young as 13 in the past. However some tracks require 18 or older or emancipation. This is a good proving ground for drivers of any age. Saturdays winner was 17..
Salem will not operate D2 midgets on the nights that we race. There is a just a few Friday's that overlap. |

Bring them on. The more the merrier. We raced Gas City last year against many D2 midgets and the competition was great. I'd also look to help Salem as much as I can.

We would be interested in bringing a couple Focus cars to the July 18 and Sept 18 NW races

Now if we just had an arrive and drive program for kids moving up. You actually have three choices>>>full size Midget and Sprints>>>D II Midgets/Mini Sprints>>>or Sidewinders (the New Mini Sprint). Cash out lay for the real deal Midget or Sprint Car can be a tad high even the new 305 Sprints can get expensive. Sidwinders while neat race cars remain more like slightly oversized Quarter Midgets with self starters (Good for the handler) with one heck of a lot more horsepower. Because of their class structure and over hype they too can be a little pricy. D II Midget size cars are regular full size Midgets with a less expensive power plants powering them. If you plan to move up a notch they set up and drive exactly like a Midget and on tracks the size of Little Salem they are just as fast. Honest Dad himself ![]() ![]() |
