Tach and Shut Off Question

I know this is going to sound dumb, but we have had vertex mags for years and now find ourselves with a Mallory Sprint Mag with the external coil. 1) The shut off. 1 wire to ground, where do we attach the other wire? If its the coil, which connection? 2) I have a new Tel Tach II. One wire goes to ground, what about the white wire with the isolator?
