He had it won after two laps. he had that car setup just right. Sad to see one of those foreign engines bring home the win . I like Brian Tyler alot but Toyot's I hate.

Sad to see JP end the day on the hook. Thankfully he didn't have a fire after his fuel tank got punctured. Also, I want to thank JP for autogaphing the piece of his rear bumper that he did for me. I know it was a bad day but that means alot to have a piece from his race car. It goes well with the Mel Kenyon radius rod and the Rich Corson quick change rear end cover.

Dave Darland drove one hell of a race. He and Shane Hollingsworth put on one of the best battles I have ever seen at Springfield.

My only complaint is the lack of use of the black flag for slower cars. That was one major factor in the Parsons crash.

:thumb:thumb for the two lap qualifying format. Alot more interesting to follow.

It was a good day at the fair and Tyler definitely had the best car(I would rather see him driving a Chevy too). I was dissapointed that there was only 26 cars there. It eliminated the last chance race. I'm sure that didn't bother the drivers, but the fans would have liked it. I don't know if USAC or Bob Sargent or both are in charge of track prep, but I think it needs some change. I'm sure their goal is to make it a glass smooth track, and it is, but it makes it a one lane track. There was absolutely no passing in the turns. Usually late in the race guys start passing around the outside, but not yesterday. I've got pictures of the big cars riding on a good cushion back in the 80's, it makes for a better race. Sorry for the soapbox, but this is my favorite race and I'd like to see it be the best it can be.

If Sarge is in charge at Du Quoin I can only hope that they put some more effort into the track two weeks from today. It's one of my fave races of the year (just the atmosphere and seeing the track at night is a joy to me) and the racing action has not been all that great the past few years. Come on guys rake the track a few times before the race!

I enjoyed the race, and have no problem with Toyota. I would imagine they are playing by the rules, and no doubt have pumped more money into the sport. I was thinking about this while watching Tyler just drive away from the field.

I remember some oft forgotten Toyota powered Midget at IRP back in the early 90's. I can't even remember the drivers name, (Mark?) It's not like they just woke up one day and wanted to try short track racing....

Day races always go dry slick. It's why I love DuQuoin so much since they put the lights up:applaud: There was not alot of racing going on, but some fine driving with plenty of sportsmanship. Im sure Dave would have loved to nerf Shane out of the way, but that would not have been proper. Bud Keading came from way back as well.

Great day at the racetrack, nice summer drive.

Im pretty sure the ghosts of Don Branson and Jimmy Bryan left town years ago :dologob:

Until Parson's got wrecked in turn three he was able to pass on the outside in the turns. I agree on teh car count. 26 is horrible. Hope the cars start coming back again. I know Gallas didn't have their car done to bring there.

Go ahead and give me grief for liking domestic engines over foreign engines. I have my reasons for not liking them.
