This is why dirt track racing is the best and this picture says it all!

Roughly 1690 Fans and a 104 Drivers per track per week.

And with all those tracks running 40 nights a year. maybe a bit of a stretch but I like the idea. lots of haulers in the picture looks like a good car count there.

Smoky Mountain Speedway near Knoxville it's mainly a late model race track. Been the last two years with the American Modified Series. It's the only race of the year they run mods and believe it or not the people love them and come out for them. It use to be paved and reportedly hosted cup races back in the day. It still includes a pit road in the infield.

I went to a NASCAR race at Smokey Mountain Raceway in Marysville, TN in 1969. Bobby Isaac won over David Pearson. Fairly high banked (not like Bristol, Salem or Winchester!) paved track at the time. Paid $8 for a reserved seat ticket. MY how times have changed!
