Bailey clutch cable??

I have a 2010 bailey with a 08 gsxr with a case saver and cable conversion.. Anyone have this same combo? what length is your cable? I got cable from bailey but think it's to long both handle and cable r adjusted all the way out but still slack in line..

Have you tried adjusting at the other end? Or is that what you mean by "the cable"? the overall length of the cable shouldn't matter, just if you can get the travel right. If both ends are "all the way out" try adjusting them the other way, you may be thinking about it in reverse. I think I had that same problem when I switched from hydraulic to manual but I eventually figured it out...

yea both ends that have threaded adjusters are as long as you can make them.. Thinking that they have to be longest point possible to take up slack.. The actual cable seems to long.. tried to call bailey yest but no answer... hmmm wonder y everyone is going to hench or hyper.. Answer ur phone geesh..lol

Have you got the play adjusted out of the plunger assembly that actuates the clutch rod? Another possibility is the rod's too short; I didn't have to but I've heard of some instances where people have had to change the length of the rod when converting from the hydraulic setup. Seems unlikely that the cable would be that much longer than the housing unless somebody screwed up when they fabbed it. Clutch cables are kind of a universal fitment; I would imagine Bailey buys them pre-made from a cable house like Motion Pro or somebody.

So now I have all the slack out of line.. I took plunger out and moved it to get more swing from it..which took slack out.. however not so sure it's moving enough to engage disengage clutch.. or mayb cuz motors not warm or hasn't had oil in case for awhile?? I think plunger is moving up like 1-1.5.. I unscrewed set screw and then turned in till felt it touch then went a quarter turn.. so not sure if I just need to wait till I fire motor or it should b working thx j

Clutch disengagement isn't dependent on oil level or operating temp, it's purely mechanical. Now, the plates could be stuck but that's another issue. With that much swing on your actuator I'm guessing the rod between the plunger and the clutch diaphragm is too short and not releasing the clutch.

That plunger only has to move 1/4" to do it's job. The only movement that counts is the movement that is felt when the rod first contacts the clutch throw out button. Don't count what is called free travel>>>>the distance that the rod moves without touching any thing (The rod can be spun with your finger). These are multiple plate clutches and they do sometimes stick when left sitting. They free up as soon as you start it up. The important thing is how you adjust your free travel. If you adjust it up too tight the clutch will burnout very quickly, (ask me how I know). ![]() ![]() When we get done I think a good name for your car would be >>>"The Indiana Open Wheel Special" Have fun and see you at the races....Remember the only dumb question is the one that you did not ask because you thought it sounded dumb. Lol yea thx that's a good name for it.. I hate asking but I also dnt have a million dollars to keep doing it over and over again.. my bud is a bike guru and he basically said same stuff as u guys.. he said since motor hasn't been raced in awhile that sounds like clutch is stuck together and said if dnt come unstuck when we fire it then hell come over and go thru clutch but I think I got it all figured out and appreciate everyone that's helped me with questions.. can't wait to race this dang thing..lol
