I think something like 30 or so cars. I would bet a lot of racers were waiting it out to see just how it came out.
What I noticed? Them yellow cars were fast!!! I was very impressed with their drivers. Sure hope they don't get to wound up with these cars.
That Bell Kid started last in his B main (his car quit in his heat), but he won his B in convincing style. He probably started 16 or so in the main and drove all the way up to second before the checkered ended the race.
The 1000cc cars are louder than the 600cc cars and the drive shaft cars are louder than the 1000cc cars, but I'll be darned they all turned about the same lap time and both the shaft drive and chain drive cars raced well together.
We screwed up on set up and

>>> AND I DO Not Know Where that Darned Kenyon car came from that finished 3rd ??!!! IT WAS FAST!!!!
Those Jr Sprints were awesome once again>>>>looks like we can expect some really good racers coming up through the ranks>
The track was about 1000% better this time than when you raced there. The track crew did a great job on keeping the track racy.
They did try a variation of the berm that did not excite me a whole lot>>>>they made 2 foot high ramps on the inside of the turns. They definitely slow the cars down But they also put quite a few cars on their tops. I guess the fans enjoyed watching the cars barrel roll off the ramps but the poor racer that put on the show took a pretty good hit in the wallet. I like berms that driver can use to their advantage and make racing more exciting in that way. But then I am are an astute race fan and enjoy the more subtle skill exhibited on the race track.
The fans got their moneys worth>>>>I bet the next race will have even more of them in the stands (probably 1/3 full last night) but it was an excellent show and I would bet the fact that they are racing some sort of Midgets at the Center and the admission was affordable will get out by word of mouth.
I would also like to thank Steve Nace and his crew>>> Jay Tinder>>> and the track prep crew at Du Quoin for putting forth one heck of a lot of effort in making this what I think was one heck of a show.
