The track will debut a new Wingless Sportsman Sprint Car division for the 2015 season and will be racing almost every night.

Go to tracks website - Click on news and go to top right side of page and click on "Crate Engine Sprint Car Engine Info" for division specs.
Division will be crate engine 604 engines

Could a division like this work in Indiana or else where around the country? Maybe a stepping stone to a higher division.
Your thoughts on this.

I think this will be a good deal if it gets rolling with car count. I know that they have been offered at least one night at Angell Park this summer as well. With the abundance of 410 and 360 winged cars in Wisconsin, I believe this will help more cars go non winged racing. The initial motor cost is minimal and I have heard you can run these sealed motors for multiple years with no rebuilds. As well as help USAC car counts up in this area when they come around. We have debated building a car for this series. I hope it takes off!

As long as it stays wingless they should open it up to either crate motor or any steel block wet sump flat tappet cam 305 motor. Most of the 305 class rules in this country match up pretty well against each other wingless, and the 604 crate motors match up fairly closely to them as well....as long as it stays wingless.

Honestly, what I would like to see is an open non winged series at Angell Park. The winged series up here run very very few Sunday shows. And as we know from the Indiana bull rings, horsepower is WAY less important without the wing. I dont remember where I saw this, but I saw an open non winged club somewhere in the country this past year that had 305, 360 and 410 cars all win features. Honestly I think open non winged sprint cars is one of the most sensible racing forms in all the world. 360 and 410 cars are already plentiful in Wisconsin, and I know a good paying purse for non winged shows would draw a lot of those guys as well

Stealth....you are talking about the WAR series here in Missouri.... our tracks go dryslick 99% of the time and any engine that pulls from 3-7000 RPM is competitive wingless in that series....but even then the guys with 305s have to be absolutely perfect through 50 corner entries, middles and exits to run up front....tires and shocks have gotten pretty good at letting you use more horsepower when it slicks off than you used to be able to use.

Regardless, I still think a $1500-2000 to win ($300-400 to start) open non winged series at Angell Park on Sunday nights would draw 20+ cars every night they ran.
