Rico Abreu took a wild ride and a vicious hit at the start of the C Main. Thankfully he walked or rather wobbled away after a couple of minutes. 6-8 cars got together at about the flag stand and Rico's car flipped over one of the inside guard rails before hitting at the base of another and coming to an immediate stop. 5 cars in total got over in that incident which also involved Steve Kinser.

Clauson ran a solid, error free A Main. He certainly wasn't as fast as the front 5 but was about on par with the rest.

Just my 2 cents.... I'm as far from a schatz fan as u can get ! That being said , he shut the booers up! I detest people booing ! Dam that schatz for being so fast at knoxville , but I won't boo him for it. And saying that they did it to Kinser doesn't make it right. I'm not upset about it, I actually find it an amusing reflection of human behavior. Glad to see B.B. Mix it up if only for a few laps. I love the spectacle and pageantry that is the knoxville Nationals. Personally I think they need to do something different to stop schatz cause this format only plays into his strengths. They need to make them run 50 laps if that's what u like but run a sprint tank and NO STOPS! He just gets faster when he gets to adjust an already close to perfect car! Another option is go back to 30 laps. You would reintroduce the chance for somebody to hit that once in a lifetime " magical" setup. Just my 2 cents. If u were there I hope u had a great time like I always have there. If you have never been there , I hope you get to experience it someday.

That was a really big ride Rico took. I saw the car after the race and it certainly look pretty tore up. However Sheldon Haudenschild's car looked like it had the worst flip of the night. The really nice part about that big pile up was seeing all the teams work on Andy Gregg's car so he could get back on the track and compete for rookie of the year honors.

I was fearful for Sheldon. His wreck was violent. I was glad he walked away.

Yes, Sheldon Haudenshild's ride was about as nasty as any I've seen for a winged car in quite a while. What concerned me about Rico's accident was how quickly his car stopped. That was a LOT of energy that was transferred to the driver. Thankfully, every driver involved in a wreck at the Nationals walked away relatively uninjured.
