Listen here buckey....I just saw a pic you posted of what appears to be a wall cloud/funnel cloud over Avon..IK it's your nature to video or photo document interesting things but please get your ass under ground and quit screwing around until the danger is gone...
Same goes to all my fellow IOW family... if you guys are under the gun right now with tornado threats get to shelter. |

Just saw this post.
Thanks for the concern. I was heading to lunch and had my Dad on the phone just when the tornado sirens broke out. It was strange because the skies did not have that "tornado look" to them. Indy is always testing and running those tornado sirens almost to the point where you start tuning them out. I got to Avon around 2pm to eat a late lunch when my cell phone started going off alerting me that there was a tornado on the ground in the area. I looked outside (in the direction of Plainfield) and noticed a system moving through. I was only a mile or two from Plainfield and could see some rotation starting to build. Tornado sirens were crazy so I decided to head east on Rockville Rd. The wind and rain had really picked up by this time as I was parallel to the storm system/rotation. As I was heading towards 465/Girls School Rd,I outran the storm but only for a few seconds. While at the stoplight I noticed objects falling from the sky which had to have been 150/200 feet in the air. At first I thought it was birds but as the objects starting landing on the ground and my car, it was no doubt debris from the storm rotation. So I hung a left and drove straight north. I then docked under the 465/Crawfordsville overpass thinking it was the safest place to be. I had the new reports going in the car and just waited until the tornado passed over. It never did. The tornado apparently jumped over the 465/40 (about a mile south east) of me. It was a weird storm as you couldn't see it well from my vantage point due to all of the rain. It was intense to say the least and feel bad for those who suffered damage. Never a dull moment in Indiana. Snow, Rain, Lightning, intense Heat and Humidity, and Tornados. Unpredictable and I like that. Makes you feel alive. Again, thanks for the concern. |

Weather was never this exciting back home in Ojai, was it Sean? All we ever had was Santa Ana winds, brush fires, monsoons and mudslides, over and over; you always knew the Santa Anas would come from the East and the mudslides would come down the canyons . No variety. Here, ya never know WHAT you're gonna get...

Glad your ok Buck but I'll concur, A underpass only funnels the wind. Seen many videos of cars getting tossed in the valley of overpasses. Almost best to keep moving as it only crosses at one point anywhere it goes.
Glad your alright. Chuck
