Just saw this on the Gas City Home Page:
"Due to the recent scheduling of a USAC race at Putnamville that night, and not to conflict with the large payout race at Bloomington Speedway and fireworks put on by the city of Gas City, we have decided to cancel racing for that night." The USAC show was on the first schedule LPS posted on Facebook January30th; recent? Guess I'm not racing again until the 25th at G.C. or the 26th at Montpelier, and things aren't looking that good for the 25th. Hope Mel can keep it together, I really enjoyed running there the last time the Midgets were on the schedule.

The last time they ran they had around 40 cars and not a lot of butts in the seats..a lot of ppl are out on the lake or with friends and family on the 4th..throw in the usac show at putnamville and bloomingtons show..I just believe its the right call not to run against them.

Maybe so, but it would've been better not to have scheduled to begin with; both the USAC and Bloomington dates have been in the books for some time, as far as I can tell.
As for me, I can't think of anything more American than being at a racetrack on the 4th of July; would've been cool to have experienced it as a participant rather than a spectator. What I'm getting at is I'm more disappointed than I am trying to be critical...

I believe Bloomington added more money to The start and winnings a couple weeks ago BC they announced it last weekend at midget week. You would have 3 tracks running sprints within a 250 mile radius..I know you are running midget/mini sprint but most ppl go to see the sprint cars..me I like both..but with gas city fireworks they wouldn't get much support from the city that night.. Just my opinion of course..I agree it probably shouldn't have been scheduled to begin with.. But it is what it is right?

I know, it's not all about me and I don't wish the issues Mel's had in his rookie attempt at promoting on anybody. I can understand how difficult it must be to be up against a USAC show and another with a big purse; on top of that, three sprint shows on a Friday night is probably a tougher deal than your typical Saturday Lawrenceburg/LPS/Paragon combo.
But I guess it is about me; I got the itch and no place to scratch it. Watching just isn't quite the same anymore...

The USAC Show at Putnamville was not a recent addition. It has been on the schedule from the get go.

I know. I said that in my first post.
