Davey Jones Joins Coomer Motorsports as Head Crew Chief

Coomer Motorsports and owner Bill Coomer are pleased to announce that Davey Jones, long time sprint car crew chief and mechanic, will be joining the team for the remaining 2014 schedule. After visiting Coomer’s race shop located in Versailles, OH on Wednesday night, the decision was made final between Coomer and Jones for Davey to join as head crew chief for the Dallas Hewitt piloted Aesthetic Finishers Inc., Armor Coat™ Ceramic Header Coating, Honda Powersports of Troy OH, A Racer’s Friend, and Jon Coomer Financial Services #21 sprint car.

Jones, son of Indy Car Series driver and Sprint Car Hall of Famer Norman “Bubby” Jones,” has a very reputable resume in sprint car racing and has teamed with very notable drivers such as Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, and Kyle Larson in the past. Jones has traveled with several teams on the World of Outlaws tour for many years with great success. Once an opportunity existed with Coomer Motorsports to stay close to home and compete in the Ohio area with the All Star Circuit of Champions and at the local World of Outlaws events became available to Jones, he felt that it was a great opportunity to help with the success of a newly formed race team. Jones stated, “Thanks for having me. Dallas seems like a real good guy, and I am looking forward to working with him.”

Jones will debut on Memorial Day weekend at Fremont Speedway as Coomer Motorsports make their first appearance there in 2014. The doubleheader is slated for Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th of May with the ASCoC and then proceed to the World of Outlaws event at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN on Monday May 26th. The following weekend will consist of Attica Raceway Park with the WoO on Friday the 30th and Wayne County Speedway the following night for an ASCoC show. With no other races scheduled until the grueling Ohio All Star Sprint Speedweek, which kicks off at Attica Raceway Park on June 20th, the team may fill the schedule with some local shows at tracks such as Attica and Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, OH to gain some seat time and further prepare for Ohio Speedweek.
