Much like the post 2 below me, what do you guys recommend for max rpm for Guhl alky injected 08 R1? Ive heard a bunch of different rpm levels, some scary high, some ok. Thanks in advance Dave

We listen for the stutter just at the end of the straight. With a stock motor and ECM the manufacture adds a rev limiter to prevent dummies from over revving their engines, usually somewhere around 13000 rpm's for modern motors. They usually dictate this due to expected valve float and engine damage caused by over reving. Your manual will tell you where it is for your motor. Now>>>If you have installed a power commander they may give you the option of increasing your RPM's by 300 to 500 revs. If you have someone re-flash your box they can remove the rev limit all together for you. Anything over stock is going to be a crap shoot (You Feeling Frogy?). The HP generally falls off several thousands RPM's before the factory limit so you just start making a lot of noise after the rev limit. Honest Dad himself ![]() ![]()

Factory rev limiter is set around 13,600 RPM. Like HD said above, you can have the box reflashed to a higher number, which will give you a little more off the corners. The payback of course, is you will do it fewer times before you replace the motor...

The rev extender allows racers to use a lower gear thus a little more poop off of the turns. The secret is to carry more speed through the turns. We have used rev extenders in the past but as a matter of laziness mostly. If we miss the gear a little low the extender will get us down to the turn. We try to gear by the tac to a point just below the rev limit at our highest RPM. We use that stutter to tell us something isn't quite right. Honest Dad himself ![]() ![]() |
